I have sent my kids to Kinderland Chinese Enrichment from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

I've checked with MOLIN via email, they replied in broken english though. I replied with several questions but no reply for almost 2 weeks liao. Finally send my kid to Kinderland.
Hi... you need to worry if that email comes from Lorna Whiston  The teachers are all native and the principal I heard used to teach in TNS. They don't seem that technology advanced type so giving them a call would be better.

          Dear Molin

I am interested to send my son to your courses. He is currently 6 years old and will be going to Maha Bodhi next year.
However, he is new to Singapore and has only recently resided here. He is currently a PR.

Can you advise the courses available for him. He knows very minimal mandarin.

By the way, can you also advise me on the course fees.

          Thank You.

              dizzyguy:
Can someone share more about school bus arrangement in MBS.

What are the choices we have ?
              What are the rates ?
What if my kids have extra classes ?
Payment by month or quaterly or yearly ?
Type/Size of the school bus? Are they new ?
              Are there Air-Conditioning ?
Are there assistance aunties in the school bus ?
The school bus go by bus routes depending on where you stay. If I don't remember wrongly, on the registration day, you need to just register with them on your location and then nearer to school reopening, they will contact you on your bus and timing. Do take their contact so that you can follow up. Dizzyguy, not sure if you took school bus during your era... the bus driver auntie who used to ferry my girl from changi used to be the bus assistant during my era!!! In fact her brother,etc... are still with MBS after all these years.

My observation is that it comes in 3 sizes, Big bus (seems to be for those staying near the school) or come from areas where alot of students come from, mid size buses (eg. when we were staying in Changi, there was a mid size bus for those kids in pasir ris, changi, loyang,etc... and lastly the mini vans type.

Prices depend on your location (I recall there is this info on school website previously) and probably size of buses as well (small van is more exp than big bus). Eg. my kids are on the mini-van. We are paying $110 each while another child (staying a street away) only pays $90 as the father told me. Also, when I used to stay in changi, think we paid $140 (so that's probably almost the max).

Note that there is no bus assistant unlike pre-school. So you need to educate your kids to sit still and tight (don't think there is safety belt on all buses yet) and don't play with their peers in the bus. It's not uncommon to see kids standing on buses and you can imagine how dangerous that is. I followed the school van to school on 1st few days and I had to remind the kids to sit still but kids being kids.... it was a big challenge. Now I made my son sit with the uncle so that he does not get into rough play with the boys and I don't get to hear any complaints.

Payment is on a monthly basis. I think during beginning of the year, you've to pay for June as well and I am not sure if dec too. I know we've to pay in advanced for those hol period to avoid parents not paying later on.

Unlike our era, buses nowadays appear to be all aircon.

Btw, why is it that the p1 children report to school at 2pm on their first day of school?

                sorry so many qns.
Sorry my memory seems to be failing... but I think it's later because 1st day of school is always chaotic. In addition, the P1 kids are new to the school, the school don't want them to come at the same time with the P2 who are already the \"big brothers and sisters\". The idea is to let them settle down and adjust to the school.

Pls make sure kids are well prepared for schools. Some common skils are ordering their own food when they are out and learning to count $. Give the kids coins and don't give big notes.... Also I made sure the kids have at least a few 10 cent coins so they can make emergency calls. I also prepared emergency $ in their school bag and told them it's only for emergency.

While acting as a parent volunteer, we do see some kids cry. I was personally quite surprised because having gone through pre-school, I thot kids by P1 should no longer have that kind of anxiety anymore. But there is only a handful.

Last but not least sign up as a parent volunteer so you can get up close to your kids if you intend to take leave. Eg. as PV, if we are allocated to the kid's class, we can help the teacher and get up close with the child. Non-PV parents have to stand outside/ corner of canteen as they don't want parents to crowd around the kids. Also, don't expect to be standing outside classroom to see the kids. The school don't allow that.

We started with $2.50 until the older nieces and nephews had a open discussion then we realise we are \"overpaying\"

It's now $2 and on CCA days, it will be $4. Most of the time, my boy will put the $ in his piggy and choose to bring home snacks. But the temptations at the bookshop is always there esp if they are the shopping type. BTW, I heard from my boy, that one of his classmate get $10 a day (for us that is too excessive) to be used in school.

BTW, there is a popular bookstore in new school and they can use the popular membership for discount. I was thinking that in the future besides exercise books, files and buddhist workbook, I will just buy the text books directly from popular.
