Overpreparing is a bad idea. Kids get bored! I think if the child reads and enjoys learning, knows how to behave in a social situation, knows when to ask for help, it would be enough!
Thanks for sharing. You are right! I am pretty concern if I am overprepared my dd. most of gf's children are not attending enrichment course. actually utd I have only arranged her for mindchamps 'reading and writing' (actually phonics focus only) and abacus. to my friend is a 'wow' thingy... hope that I did not overdo it.
currently i tot since mindchamps programme is coming to an end, probably should prepare her for chinese just in case, she enter in MBS which has higher chinese.
have you prepared your children that much? i tink i am not being KS.... -
Hi,
Just to share what I am doing for my K1 this year… This might sound KS for some of the parents who don’t believe in enrichment but having 2 older kids in MBS (P3 and P2), I felt that this is necessary.
FYI, she currently attends Kinderland and this is on top of what she is doing in kinderland :
1) Intermediate Phonics
2) Lorna Whiston K1 creative english
3) Enopi Maths
4) Molin Chinese
5) Chinese speech & drama
6) Ballet (more for the fun of it as she started since last year)
7) Kawai music playstation
But so far she enjoys the lessons and she has not complain. -
Sorry just to add. I did not prepare my P3 that much when she was of the same age. I used to be the \"take it easy\" mum. Before K2, I only let her do piano and JG speech & drama program. Nothing of the academic sort.
It was only in K2 that I sent her for Molin chinese and phonics. So she is like the \"least prepared\". She survived in P1.... well most if not all kids does anyway  Seeing what my K1 goes through, she would ask me why didn't I send her for those programs when she was younger, she would have been \"better\". I told her I also didn't know she should do those since I was inexperienced at that point. -
aiyo..i had a nightmare last night....i dreamt that i forgotten to fetch my girl back from tuition!!!
....stressssss

She only has LW and Chinese S&D on weekends. Meanwhile for the other classes, it takes place on weekdays (1 class per day and usually late afternoon or evening except for enopi which is right after kinderland) and my mum helps to bring her.
She has not complain so far but instead bugged my mum to bring her for class if she knows that she has class that day… I think most of the program that we choose so far are quite fun so she learns in a fun way. -
sounds like she is not attending childcare centre? if you dont mind me asking, how much are you 'investing' on the enrichment programme for your child?
does she need to do schoolwork after each programme? do you give her homework to do? sori... hv i asked too many ??? -

glad that she is enjoying them ... -
It's ok.... this forum is for parents to share.
The only homework she has is for enopi and Molin chinese (which my mum got the teacher to give her some practise to do). She is more committed to do the homework if she knows that it's coming from the teacher. Other that that, we are just expected to read with her and revise what she has learnt. This is the part that we are trying to keep up given that she is not the only child
For her, I think we are spending around $700 per month excluding her kinderland fees. -
mmm… wow, you are really a good mummy. to spend ts much is really no joke especially this is not your only child.
i feel that the enrichment course is not just spending $$$ but time. like driving them to course, waiting time, revision time… actually time is also another factor. after they have finished the course, do we spend time is also a raise of concern. i realised that my dd doesnt like to go through the revision with me. she shared that she enjoyed the course and she can cope with that and FULL-STOP.
anyone can share how you revised with your child after their enrichment course?
