Btw, may I check do you get to know your child FT during the orientation day?

      What does \"FT\" stand for?

If you mean the teacher, I really didn't have a chance to talk with her since I had my hands full with the paperwork, getting books, etc. By the time I picked up my son from the classroom, he was the 2nd to the last student left in the classroom.

Oh wow... so the kids are always told at school what they need to bring for the next day? Or will they eventually have a regular schedule for what books they need to bring on which days?

Then what were those cabinets outside of the classrooms for? I thought they looked like lockers. That's surprising that they don't use lockers, especially considering how many books the kids have.
Only the 1st week, for the special schedule.
Towards the end of the 1st week, they get the regular timetable, and then the kids pack according to what subjects they have in the day. But I've since learnt that the Social studies, music and art trs hardly use the Textbooks, it seems. either that or maybe my ds was not paying attention? he hardly brings those books.

i didn't notice any lockers, but maybe you are right.

generally most pri sch kids in Sg have bags that are way too heavy for their own good. even those schs with lockers, my friends say their kids still like to bring all the books to sch and back. like sometimes there is a lot of HW or sth.

that is not a good thing of course.
Thanks for the welcome... btw any idea wat time the office is open? Is it opened on Saturday?
I think during school holidays, the general office is opened from 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. As for Saturday, I am not too sure - maybe you can give them a call 1st.
btw good news bout the PSLE is very nice to hear :celebrate:
Yes, I am happy for the school and the P6s. Heard a lot of comments that this year PSLE papers are tough and am so glad that CPS P6s done well :congrats:

I strongly believe besides the students' hard work, the teachers also put in a lot of effort to coach & guide them. Kudos to the teachers in CPS too!

that is not a good thing of course, but once again, seems like an inevitable evil.
Well, it could be worse. Back home, my niece comes back from school with no homework. What little they give her, she finishes at school. At least here, kids are getting an education.

If only there was a middle ground right? 🙂 But I think it's a bit easier for a parent to help bring balance than to try and fill education gaps. Emphasize to try their best and not worry about getting things wrong, because it's when you make mistakes that you truly learn.

Oh no… I just bought school uniforms. It was such a zoo in the cafeteria at orientation that I didn’t get a chance to really compare the different sizes, so I picked up one and thought, "This looks like it might fit right."

Well, it didn’t. All the uniforms I bought are too big. 😕 I don’t suppose they will do an exchange?

Where else can buy the uniform? I couldnt attend the orientation hence will be buying it today or next week…
If I am not wrong, the school uniform selling dates are the same as the school textbooks. I was in the school on Monday and the seller for the school uniforms and P.E. attires was there. You can call up the general office and they will be able to give you the gentleman’s hp no. who is selling the uniform.

The place where he sells the uniforms / P.E. attire is located at one of the corner classroom at level 1. When you walked pass the guard post, you will be able to see the Dentist’s clinc on your left. From there you turn left and walk to the end of the corridor and you will see it.

                        Hope this helps; cheers!
