yup, it says the same in my letter... but it may not affect me. cos it says they want to make sure that one teacher will teach all the core subjects. since for my ds1 it is already the case, i doubt my son's timetable will change much.Hi All,
Just want to check whether did your kid being inform that there will be a change in their time-table or teachers? As stated in the last paragraph of the letter, it seems that there will be major re-shufffling of teachers  .
also, for timetable changes, maybe it has to do with the supplementary classes. you know there is a big hooha in the papers/ forum pages regarding supplementary classes.
they used to be everyday i think, for the upper pri, but many parents are saying they have other classes/ tuition, so it becomes very tiring for the kids. hence, i think they might change it such that it is not daily? -
LKVM:
I am excited to know about the reshuffling... hopefully its good
Me too - hoping for a \"better, brighter \" for my DD1's class. -
Yesterday I sent my DS to school with lunch money. Apparently he spent it buying an ice cream for himself, an ice cream for his friend, and a cheap plastic slinky toy.
This is why I pack my son's lunch. And today that's what I did... but apparently he convinced some other kids to give him some of their lunch money so he could buy another $3 toy! :scratchhead:
I gave him a lecture that he shouldn't be asking kids for their lunch money as his friend's parents gave it to those kids so they can use it to eat, not use it to loan to him for toys. At the same time, I have to ask, why is the school allowing a vendor to sell these things in the cafeteria in the first place?? Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea? -

i didn't know the bookshop sold toys... i haven't had this problem cos my ds1 is the thrifty and super calculative kind. but i will probably relate to this when ds2 goes to school next year.
you can give feedback to the school. in each school, a committee headed by a teacher looks after the canteen and bookshop and feedback and suggestions would go there.
(i remember at my previous school, we gave our colleague in charge of the canteen's variety of food a lot of incessant suggestions/ complaints... cos food matters a lot to us Singaporeans, so he was perpetually inundated with stuff like \"can have japanese food or not huh?\")
as for borrowing money, they are still young, indeed, they haven't realised many issues about money.
my concern with ds1 was that he was the moneylender! (like i said, he counts his cents very carefully)
i let him carry some emergency money - for calling me or for extra books or stationery if he lost his- and sometimes his friends would borrow from him. when they forget to return him the next day, he wanted to charge them more! like, with added interest!! i had to tell him that with friends, we don't do that. we just remind them!
he also tried to sell his stationery to those who forget to bring them, but that's another story. (had to teach him to lend, not sell!)
i also had to teach him that his friends' parents give them money for food, and would be upset to find them losing the money through interest payments and petty stationery purchase.
also had to talk to him about friendship and what it means...
overall, i feel that despite all the ups and downs and funny incidents that happened in P1, it made him grow up so much.
they truly learn a lot and mature so much in just 1 yr. they also learn to be so much more independent, and i think it was such a memorable yr to look back on.
compared to last yr, this yr has been quite uneventful so far...
(i have more stories about how he got into fights but i can share with you another day, and maybe in a less public manner. :)) -

I have a very interesting conversation with my DD this morning, \"Do you love holidays or you prefer to be in school?\" She answered, \"Well, actually I love holiday - so I can relax; wake up slightly later and do what ever I can. But I miss school and my best friends....but don't miss the whole class because the boys are very rowdy & noisy!\" Guess this is a transition period for her to adjust from the honeymooning P1 & P2 to the stressful & faster pace in P3. Nevertheless, I hope she learns and to cope well with the changes in her class & to do her best in her studies.
Last Question I \"intentionally\" asked,\" Do you think you want to transfer to another school if you have a choice?\" Guess what? She replied with a very fierce & stern look :x \"No, Mummy, I love my school; just that my class boys are noisy and rowdy. Other than that, I am
\"
Cheers, I love her attitude :celebrate: -

That's funny.
He's got the mind of a businessman.

i'm glad she loves her school and loves going to school/ learning! that is the most important!I have a very interesting conversation with my DD this morning, \"Do you love holidays or you prefer to be in school?\" She answered, \"Well, actually I love holiday - so I can relax; wake up slightly later and do what ever I can. imagine how tedious and sad it would be if we had to push them forcefully up the school bus/ or drag them to school while they're crying, or worse, if they suffer from depression (apparently kids do!) or get turned off learning cos school took away the pleasure from it...
even with the added CAs and SAs in P3, she still loves school, i must say, she is totally adjusted and happy indeed!
