The handbook was in stock yesterday. There were these 2 Malay daddies who are very helpful. They asked the bookshop lady to hand them the handbooks and they help to sell. So those who need to buy handbook only need not join the long Queue! :hi5:

Yeah, this school bus company really did a bad job yesterday. I do hope that today it will be better.

wow! kudos to these parents! good to know about these nice parents... thanks for sharing, champs.

i will ask ds1 to buy tmr if he can. cos i can't make it (to go to the school on his behalf to buy). hope the queue won't be too bad during his recess time?

I'm surprise to hear from my DD as she ask me to give her money as the form teacher brought the handbook for her. What a nice teacher he is. Heard he is fierce which I'm happy to hear that as she need someone like that for her mischievous. I do tell her if she behave the teacher will be nice to you too. Who want to punish a good student, right.

        skyozone,

nice teacher indeed! your dd is in good hands! (can PM me who her form teacher is?)

i like strict teachers too. they maintain discipline and it is easier to teach and learn (on students’ part). and the students all seem to respect the tr. (ie the strictness doesnt mean they fear the teacher till they don’t like him right?)

morning mummies and daddies, long time didn't log in to this forum.

Finally back to work after two days in CPS. My DD is at P1 this year! The first two days so far so good for us as DD looks happy with her new teacher and friends. The teacher looks not fierce which is good for my girl, but not sure the she can control the lesson as the boys are quite talkative. 🙂

The worst things in the first two days were the school bus and bookshop.

Lucky we didn't need to take school bus as morning we send her there and she will be with the new student care till we fetch her. When we were in the hall waiting for the student care teachers to pick up the kids, all the kids need to take school bus were sitting in the front of the hall while a lady using mic to announce the kids names with school bus number! What a terrible mess there, wondering why they can't prepare early and let the parents/teachers know in advance so everyone is prepared. We left the hall at 2 plus and the confused parents/kids were still there. On the 2nd day, class teacher briefed the kid who need to take school bus according to the school. But when we were at the hall at about 145pm, still there is a lady announcing names and bus numbers. 🤷

About the book store, we gave up as the Q was always there like never move. At about 3pm, i started to Q, and one teacher told me to write down the kid's name and teacher will give her the book then we make payment. So many parents Queued for hours just for one handbook (portfolio is oos on the first day!), why can't school make proper arrangement earlier (the handbook is from school not those publisher, and they should know exactly how many they need), and why cant the book store set up one stand for the handbook only? All of them should send to the course on productivity and efficiency!!! :stompfeet:

Now i still not yet got the music book as currently is oos, can find it in popular?

well, enough complains..hehe...the Principal is nice and approachable. I spoke to her about the jet noise (it's really super duper loud and these two days like fly so often!), i suggested having full air-con classrooms to reduce the noise, she told me funding is a big issue, MOE wont give budget for this. Shall all the parents do something to feedback to MOE? it's really disturbing, my girl told me she and her friends need to cover ears as really very loud but her teacher didn't. :yikes: It should consider as workplace hazard, MOM should do something like noise monitoring to check whether this is harmful to the young kids!

  The school bus is a big issue and problem! I do hope that things can be thrashed out soon! My 2 DDs reached home at 2.20pm yesterday when school ended at 1.30pm! My place is about 3 minutes drive from school! 🤷

The Book shop was not prepared at all! Look inside the store and you can see that books are not arranged and stacked properly. I even witnessed one parent demanded the shop lady to search again for a book and she finally found it inside a red plastic bag un-open yet! :faint:

Do call up Popular branch to check 1st especially Jurong Point branch - they do too have quite a number of textbooks for every level out of stock.

The thing about the jet noise is \"beyond control\"! We have spoken with our MP and he said that due to there is an Airbase was not far from our neighbourhood so advised us to bear with it! :skeptical: 🤷 Well, we have been staying in the area for 12 years so all my 3 kids are \"trained\" and immune to the loud noise since birth 😉

              Hi mummies and daddies

If you encounter problems on buying the handbooks, please inform your dd/DS form teacher and may pass $2.70 to your child, form teacher will get the handbooks from bookshop on your behalf.

Hi Champion, nice to see you here again. 🙂

about the noise, yah...impossible to remove the air base, but i think MOE should look into the noise which might potentially cause hearing damage. If can't eliminate then at least have engineering control (like air-con during the lessons). It's really hard to solve this problem, air-con may create more problems. :stompfeet:

I just did some search on noise exposure on MOM regulation for any workplace. I think at least they need to do a test on the noise level the kids/teachers expose to daily.

Sound pressure level, dB(A)\t Maximum duration per day
                  120 dB(A) 9 seconds
                  121 dB(A)\t 7 seconds
                  122 dB(A)\t\t 6 seconds
                  123 dB(A)\t\t 5 seconds
                  124 dB(A)\t\t 4 seconds
                  125 dB(A)\t\t 3 seconds
                  126 to 127 dB(A)\t\t 2 seconds
                  128 to 129 dB(A)\t\t 1 second
                  130 to 140 dB(A)\t\t <1 second

Below is the example of noise level

hi Champion, i bought the portfolio and handbook yesterday, there is one separate table selling these two to save parents’ time. I remember heard someone said teacher also can help to order. Not very sure.

Thanks for the advise on the books, will check with popular this weekend. Better settle all before the lessons start next week.

May i know we must buy all those arts supply listed on the booklist? I haven’t made the purchase.

I am thinking to make a trip down later during my lunch hour to get the portfolio 🤷

I did not get all the art material supply in the list; will buy from Popular when DD2 has Art lessons.
