        Hi everyone,

Haven't came here for quite some time. my dd is doing fine for the first month of P1, but seems like getting bored recently. She told me till now still no music lesson as it was used for English and Maths lesson. The form teacher need to teach 6 subjects including EN, MA, PE, Music, SS and HE. Plus PAL every thursday, really stressful leh...how to really pay attention to all the kids' need.

My dd is with ACE student care. So far so good. But recently they started giving kids do assessment booklet (we paid $100 per year for the material fee). dd complained why after school still need to study. Student care teacher will ask each class teacher what is the homework for that day then write on the whiteboard to remind kids to finish homework. They will also test the kids ting xie and spelling 1 or 2 days before the actual one which make my dd double stressed. But the kids have to learn how to handle stress, more to come along the way. 😞

Another issue is they have to take nap at the desk, everyone is allowed to bring a pillow to support the head. It's still not comfortable and bad for the eyes. But no other option as the CPS said no place to store the mattress. Also my dd refuse to take shower there, she complained very inconvenience and very wet at the shower area (she took shower everyday in childcare)

About the pick up time. Kids will be led to the area near the Gate 1 to wait for parents around 630pm. We usually reach there at about 630pm, usually left very few kids only.

Every Wednesday there will be extra speech and drama (can't remember the exact name) by a teacher from another center. So the kids wont have afternoon nap.

Hope the above information can help some parents. So far so good, at least we dont need to worry about the transport and safety on the road.

            hi sno_opy,

glad to hear she is settling well. ask her don't be too stressed about the student care. they are just helping her to revise. they don't punish if kids don't do well in the student care work, do they?

about dental service, so far so good for my ds. he usually goes for cleaning and polishing I think. no major works yet.

the milk teeth do take quite some time to fall off from the time they are loose and shaky. sometimes up to 3-4 weeks. you can request to have them extracted earlier but most dentists advise to leave them so that it is less painful, and there would be less blood if it is truly ready to drop off.

unless you have other concerns, like the permanent teeth that are emerging are very misaligned, then you can highlight these concerns to the dental staff. i have met one of them personally when ds1's appointment was during the school hols. so i had to bring him to school myself. she seems very friendly. πŸ™‚

Hi kabalevsky, thanks for your reply about the dental care service. will let the dental staff check DD's condition then decide, hopefully no need to extract. Now we are trying to shake them everyday to make the two as loose as possible, hope they will drop before the appointment. πŸ™‚

DD very kiasu and kiasi, want perfect result. She told me some kids didn't get 8/8 for spelling in the student care so teacher wont give sticker. oops....

Btw, usually during June and Dec holiday, School will arrange extra holiday program? now need to plan June holiday trip in advance.

                hi sno_opy,

                np πŸ™‚

you are very cute. πŸ˜† i also hope kids' teeth drop off themselves, ask them use tongue to push them every once in a while. cos if not, either Dh or I use thread to pull off. I don't really like to do that. so prefer they drop off themselves. so far several did drop off themselves. phew.

your dd is very driven. that's good. today's papers one whole page on young generation now, very few have the drive to succeed.

then your job is easier on that front, no need to have headache on motivation, just ensure she has time to relax and have fun only. πŸ™‚

no, i don't recall holiday programs. only upper primary have activities. P1-2 nothing much. if you have CCA then there will be some CCA trainings, otherwise quite free.

it's the student care that's reported in the papers to have interesting holiday program because the rental is lower, they have more funds for programs. that one have to ask them so you can plan beforehand. πŸ™‚

kabalevsky, i only read the web version of that the news report, not full version. Um...student care holiday program. will check with them. πŸ™‚

kathyh, i don't have the chance to see the booklet. We paid $100/year for the material fee. I asked at that time can choose dont do the booklet? the person-in-charge say can, but still need to pay. When everyone in the class is doing, don't know my girl want to be the rare case.

You can see ACE's advertisement, they are just another academic result driven after student care like most of the others in Singapore. :nailbite:

kabby, my girl survived from the first dentist visit. But i hope in the future her milk teeth can drop naturally. I don't want to go through the extraction any more.

LKVM, nice to see you drop by. πŸ™‚ Now i need to get use to the weekly tingxie and spelling revision for my always want to get full marks DD.
