Oh dear, I called up the school this afternoon to enquire about the status of the transfer, they said not yet, have to wait till end of Nov....sigh....and there'll be no orientation for the transfer children and the vacancy is tight....dunno what are the chances now. And the school does not hold open house?
The person who picks up the phone sounds so unhelpful, so negative.... -
Oh dear, Ivy.
hmm, the kids have just finished their exams, perhaps have to check back again next week? did they ask for your name and contact?
there is usually no orientation for transfer students, for most schools, because there isn’t a big enough number. however, you can ask us if you need any info!
next time, try to get the name of the person who picked up the call, perhaps then you can give some feedback to the school in future.
some of the general office staff are very very nice and friendly, hope you get one of them next time you call! -
Guess I’m a bit too kan chiong,i called too early. I will call again next week.
-
best wishes! hope for good news from you soon!

Wrt transfer, if your kid’s results are band 1 or high band 2, I will suggesting dropping a polite email to the school stating that you look forward to november to be notified of the vacancies. And then attach this year sa1 result and any other involvement in current school. Even if you already know of this sa2 results, also can include in email. For ‘orientation’ you can try to arrange for a school walk round when you are notified of the vacancy.I think some schools allow you to do so in the afternoon if they are single session or during holidays when there are minimal disruption.

Hi Ivy :hugs:
Maybe you can try calling on the last week of this term as of now I think school is busy with tabulating the children's result and thereafter the streaming to next level for Y2013.
Next Friday, 09 Nov is the PTM and this time it is compulsory for ALL P4 parents due to the Subject-Based-Banding(SBB) and option for HMT
I have just signed both forms for P4 & P1 DDs and putting the earliest slot 8-10am as my preferred 1st choice
-
yes Ivy, good advice from Jedamum and champs!
hope you hear from the school soon!
champs, yes i put in my request already too.
hope we get our preferred time slots! -
Hi all,
I have received a call last friday, asking for the final term results slip. Imagine my dissappointment! By the way, do they still look at transfers results before they decide on the list…my sons result is not so good, that why I’m a bit worried:( -

Hi Ivy, my guess is probably this is the normal administrative procedure for transfer cases. I might be wrong but maybe they want to assess your child's academic result to stream him to the class that will unleash his potential
Not too worry; I believe the school is doing their best to make the necessary arrangement.
