      Ivy Ang Siow Kia:
So dissappointing....got a call today saying no place for DS :gloomy:

:hugs: :snuggles: Ivy, am sorry to hear that..maybe, you can request to put your DS on wait list and probably do a follow-up with them middle of the year?
      mercury95sg:
Next year bus transport service is still Aik Wei, seem that price increase a little.
      Kabby:
yes mercury, i received the same notice.
so sorry to hear that Ivy. did you place ds on waitlist?
Yes, I also received the notice regarding the increase in school bus fee  Discuss with DH and DD1 - next year DD1 is P5 and most days she needs to stay back in school for supplementary classes, CCA practices, etc..Therefore, we decide that she shall take the public transport to and fro from school. DD1 is so happy ๐Ÿ•บ - she finds that she has been \"promoted\" to a \"young adult\" ๐Ÿ˜‚ DD2 will still continue to take the school bus since she will only be P2 next year and needs not stay back for any extra activities.

:hugs: Kabby. Yes, she has been coming home from CCA / supplementary classes via the public transport this year so we feel it is time to let her go \"full-time\" on the public transport. In fact, she has a group of buddies going home together with her so I guess it will be fun too...But, we have to remind her about safety on the road as well as on the bus; although it sounds naggy to her but I will still repeat them constantly ๐Ÿ˜‚

yes, yes, indeed! the constant reminders are important.

ds1 takes bus home also, if his CCA ends late. I always worry about that junction at the main road as the traffic is heavy and travels at high speeds sometimes

Yes, Kabby ๐Ÿ˜„ ..agrees that the main road both way leading to and coming from PIE, the vehicles sometimes travel at a very high speed ๐Ÿ˜“ ..I am a little kiasu - told DD1 she MUST pause, turn right to look at the stopping vehicles even that the \"green man\" light signal is on.

                Dear parents,

I went to the P1 orientation yesterday with DD and got very fustrated with the school bus provider. They couldnโ€™t tell me exactly whereโ€™s the pickup point, the pickup time or explain properly why they need to collect fee for january and december even thought DD wonโ€™t be using the service ntil january. So i just want to ask whether anyone here knows the pickup point and time for the Jurong West st 51 area? How reliable is their service, i.e. are they on time, are they safe? If anyone can explain the fee regulation, that would great too.

Another question i have is about ordering school uniform. The vendor wasnโ€™t there yesterday, so the teachers gave us an ordering form with the upcoming sales dates. Anyone know whether i need to order online first or can just turn up on the day to get the uniforms? I would like to bring my DD to check the sizing before buying. Also, do we have to buy the black shoes and shocks from the vendor or any black shoes will do?

                Many thanks for your help.

                  Hi Sesame Paste,

I'll answer the Qs I know how to answer. ๐Ÿ™‚

My son only took school bus in P1 and it was with another bus service provider. It was frustrating as well, and we also had to pay for Jan and Dec first. The Dec fees are for the next year's one. Not this Dec. I.e. When I paid in 2009, it was for 2010 Jan and Dec. The reason, I don't know why. Can only guess maybe they collect first as it's very hard to collect later on in Dec since it is the hols?

We stopped taking the school bus cos it was very frustrating. But feedback was given, and the school changed to a supposedly better school bus service provider. This current one, Aik Wei.

As for another primary school which I am familiar with, they use JK59 and it is equally frustrating for my friends who complain all the time. My conclusion is, maybe all the service providers are all not up to par. ๐Ÿ˜“

As for uniforms, not sure, as my time, the vendor was present at Orientation.

But I know for black shoes, any shoes will do. As for socks, you have to buy from the Vendor as they have the school initials on it.

Have fun! It's exciting, the start of P1!

Thanks Kabby. Weโ€™ve decided to try the public transport first to see whether we can cope. At least DD wonโ€™t have to get up too early as we are only a few stops away.

                      Hi All

Went for Orientation last Sat too! DD's FT looks experienced, and not too fierce. DD has a good impression of her - a good start!
Didn't buy the books from sch, cos DH said Popular got 5% off. So got the text books from popular, going back to get the remaining books etc from the school when we go back for the uniforms. Anyway, saw the compulsory items B - stationery such as pencils and colour pencils. Can we get our own?? Don't need the exact brand right?? :skeptical:
Can I also check with the experienced parents here, how many sets of uniform to buy?? The uniform list suggests 2 sets of uniform and 2 sets of PE attire, enough? Assuming I only do ironing once a week?

By the way, Sesame Paste, what bus do you take?? I am near st 51 (Near Rulang). I thought there's no direct bus??

Hi Dora1 :hugs: It's good that your DD has the 1st good impression of the FT ๐Ÿ˜„ You mentioned previously that your DD will be in Respect 2; care to share who is her FT?

This year most likely I will purchase from school bookshop - one trip to cater for both P5 DD1 and P2 DD2. Last year a bit messy as I made 2 trips back when school re-opened to queue for the portfolio and the handbook! Yes, for stationery, don't need to get from the bookshop.

                        For each girl, I have - 2 sets uniform & 3 set P.E. attire.

Think there are 2 buses at the bus-stop near Blk 502, in-front of OCBC - Bus 157 or Bus 185. Bus 157 you alight at the main road and walk into the school about 3 mins. Bus 185 stops right at the bus-stop next to Gate 2 (small gate that links into the canteen).
