I did make an issue why some CCA only recruit pupils who already know how to play that sport. Afterall, the pupils go to the school to learn.

Apparently this is not the case in reality.
So I gave up fighting and accept the cold hard facts of life.
Sorry to hear about that. Hope your child will find that the other CCA may not be that bad after all and learn to enjoy it. This is not new, when i was in secondary school, i remember i choose some uniform groups but was not given a CCA of my choice. I was forced into the school band having no prior knowledge of music and plus 2-3 times a week practices really scare me. But in the end i enjoy time at the band the most. 😄

actually my hus n i thought of sending an email to mdm kavitha but in the end, we think ,will it change anything if we email her, she will jus give us a excuses saying my son didnt pass the requirement. n my son still cant get in the cca he really wanted... I agree to your saying, kids go there to learn the cca which they never try before but in the end, our kids dont meet their requirement n got rejected or push around to every station ...i wonder what is the form teacher is doing at that time?

If you are looking from the school, it is doing the right thing because by recruiting kids who already have some background, then the teachers can spend more time preparing the kids for competition instead of starting from ground zero.
In this world, isn't this the case ie those with privileges or priorities get a better deal?

Not surprising that this will happen soon and this already happened in sec schools (ie DSA)!

hi hi, my son is choosing his cca too but he experience a terrible time cos the cca teacher keep pushing him to other cca as i think they saw him is not in the top 3 classes. 1st choice- techno club 2nd media info comm club 3rd choice handball 4th scout. they will be asked some quest on each cca station but when he reached 2 nd stat, the teacher see his list n says why u didnt go join techo club, go go join n didnt even ask him anything so my poor boy went away to techno again n ask some quest n then try the handball, also rejected n lastly scout, the teacher asked all student who stand there, tell me anything about scout, all student very quiet then my son says can learn a lots of new thing n be more indepentant but also got rejected...angry by how my son was treated , jus because he is making his choice of fav cca.

Why would the teacher pushed him to other cca because of his class?
If this is really the case, I will be very upset too.
my ds is at 3H, he tried badminton as 1st choice but was rejected as he would not serve. He was eventually accepted into skipping (2nd choice).
And his cca quest stops at stat 2, no chance to try other stations.....

So it is true that the school actually wants the best of the best for each CCA and not giving a chance for the kid to learn....

My nephew tried badminton but was rejected too 😢

I've attended this PMT sessions twice. The form teacher will brief parents on their expectations for the student in terms of discipline, admin and standard. There will be NO chance to talk about your own kids.
You may try & squeeze in at the end for 1-1 session only if you want to let teacher know what to take note for your kiddo.
Else you can forget about hearing teacher commenting on your kids.
How much do you think they will understand your kids with only 1 week of interaction?
I take back my words. As I will be missing this Friday's PMT session, I requested my ds form teacher to let me know the esscence of the PMT.
She called and we briefly talked about this yr's expectation, GEP, etc.
Before hanging up, she briefly informed me about her observation of my ds for the past week. All spots on observations.....

                    Hello ttyh,

So you mean that the form teacher call you personally after she found out that you are not attending the PMT? That’s really kind of her.
IF yes, I also feel like asking her on my ds’s behaviour in class for this past 1 week also wondering whether I can email her to check with her.

I emailed her that I could not attend PMT tmr and expressed the keen interest to know about the session esscence, etc. She called me eventually to update me.
