      SAHM_Tan,

DS1 has 6 pencils (MUST be 2B), 1 eraser, 1 ruler, 1 sharpener in his pencil box. They were not encouraged to put scissors in. Glue was recently added in.

          hi sahm_tan,

Can’t recall exactly, but I think they are not. in the first place, most activities (esp start of P1), will not require scissors. what if they injure themselves/others? For a start, it’s safe not to bring. or perhaps it’s staplers they are not encouraged to bring. Sorry, a bit hazy on this.

I gather that kids LURVE the silver and gold colour pencils. I bought the $3.99 stabilo promo pack that has 12 colours and silver and gold. DS was ecstatic.

For pencils, 2B is a must. anything less (eg HB), teacher will tell them to keep at home.

previously went for the pv english kids read program. They will be given 15 mins at the end of the lesson for art and craft. The students were very excited when they saw staples and scissors. Maybe these are items they hardly get to use so very excited over it.

A BIG THANK YOU to the list of HWS parents whom have volunteered/sponsored to make HWS Teachers' Day Celebration 2011 a success..

Parent-performers for the song item \"Wind Beneath My Wings\"
Parent-duty-Moms to relief Teachers' Recess Duties
Parent-sponsors for Teachers' Day Decors and Nice balloons.
Parent-sponsors for PSG Teachers' Day Gift
Parent-sponsors for Art-Works for ebanner, packaging etc.
Parents whom one way or other contributed to the logistics of the Celebrations.

The School appreciate the effort put in by the Teachers' Day Celebration Commitee - Parents' Team. Especially the 11-parent performance was a hit among Teachers. Many teachers feedback that they were touched by the concert item.

Lastly, School IT and Publication will provide us the photo once it is ready. PM me if you like to have them. :).

HWS Children Day celebration cum Project Care Activity on 6th Oct

On 6th oct, HWS celebrates Children Day. As part of School value system (compassion), all students will be delivering essentials to an elderly home (project care). For CCA groups, they may perform for the elderly on the same day. This activity usually happens from 0800hrs onwards.

In the 2nd half of the celebration from 1030hrs, there will be concert and class parties. if we have parents-performers, we may put up a concert item (song or dance).

We also seek gift-packers/sorters from 29th Sept to 4th Oct (exclude weekends). Parents esp. SAHM may volunteer to pack/sort out gifts in preparation for the Oct 6 Project Care event.

We seek at least 30 volunteers for the event. Please write to [email protected] to register your interest. Please state (1) Project Care (road marshals, class escorts, or related safety related tasks ) (2) Concert (Parent-Performers) (3) Gift Packers.
