Never get hb. The teachers are particular about only 2b pencils. Also, limit to not more than 6 pencils.
Thanks for the info hquek. Can check with you, there is this \"Di Zi Gui\" book and writing book that was given out free during orientation. One of my friend was too late to take the books and no more left. Will these books be given out in future? -
I thot I saw the Di Zi Gui book…so means I was too late too.
Do you manage to get a copy? What’s the writing book all about? Does the kids need to take it to school? -

I only want to let her take 2 only leh......if blunt, let her sharpen......
I gave mine the max. DS shhk teacher told parents to have pencils sharpen etc so during lesson time, kids won't be distracted by having to do that (some kids may find this a novelty and keep doing it) - I think it makes sense, so I make sure he got no excuse to do that. -

During his time, we were given a dzg book, but we have not touched it (oops, skeleton out). DS1 was subsequently given another version (with kiddy faces printed on it) and he carries that to school.

Before entering, I thought it was impt for him to familiar with that, but actually they will go through in school. Don't need to fret so much on that. -
Hi insider, I didn’t know your kids were in hws. Pleasant surprise.
Not sure which Chinese teacher you were referring to, but I saw one younger one that seemed really strict. DS’ Chinese teacher is very experienced and gives a lot of writing homework. Yet turn out that he did way better in Chinese than English. My eyes nearly popped out becos he only likes to read English books, and avoids Chinese like the plague. Hoping that this year results will convince him that building up his Chinese foundation will serve him well in future. -

DD1 is ok becos she has exercised her need to sharpen pencils at home liao. Once she kept sharpening till the pencil was useless.

i passed by the stall with the books and hesitate on taking as very thick and heavy. Then a mom with older kid in HW said must take both books. She mentioned definitely will use it but i didn't ask her for what purpose.I thot I saw the Di Zi Gui book......so means I was too late too.

I contacted HW and was told the kids will not need to bring those 2 items to school.
If there's a need, then I liaise with the school again.
Thanks. -

I don't think it is mandatory or they will hand it to the child/parents, not leave it for pp to take. Not sure why the parent said that.simsl_sg:
