For the last 5 yrs there have been balloting for those who live within 1 km of Hong Wen under Phase 2C. There are parents who live within 1 km and still PV so that they are able to register under phase 2B. If you are registering this yr, it will be too late to PV. If you stay within 1KM, you can try your luck under phase 2C but have a backup plan too.would it be difficult to go hong wen?
my son going p1 next yr and we still thinking which school to send him -

Hi sahm tan, there was last year. Dunno why this year so quiet
Thanks. If the school does not have for this yr, I will have to subscribe on my own. Though it's cheaper thru school. -

Heard that psg is going to do garner some feedback on canteen food and prices. Anyone keen to participate and make points heard? can post interest here. I understand that there are psg committee who visit this place.
I think the price is a tad high for primary school canteen food.
But only based on what I can dig out from DD1. Maybe not enough customers so the price is as such? Like 80 cents for plain mee hoon. Drinks I heard is $1. But maybe also becos of increased in the price of raw materials making the food? But then again rent is very low for stalls in school? Think need to know all the factors.
As for the taste, so far
DD1 is ok with it. I let her bring $1.60 to school.
Maybe there should be a tasting trip for us, so that we know what's selling in the canteen.

if you are going under phase 2C, and stay out of 1km, I advise better look at another school. St Andrews also about there - I'm not sure about stats for this but it may be even more popular than HWS (becos got affiliated sec school mah). Sorry not familiar with cedar.

hi sahm_tan, the price for drinks. Is that in terms of can or cup? I heard (not sure if right/not) that they sell in cups so kids don’t have to buy the whole can.
Am not sure of the variety, but seems quite sad the few times I was there. -

Not sure whether they sell in cups. The amt is for a can. What I know abt canteen food is that there's nasi lemak, mee with assorted add-ons, bee hoon, fruits, corn, bao, siew mah, laksa or something similar, biscuit snacks.hi sahm_tan, the price for drinks. They will be there for 6 yrs so sooner or later the students will be bored with the food. Like at home, I tell them to eat whatever I cooked. I have a fixed menu for lunch per wk :rotflmao: My concerns are price, taste and nutritional value. I hope they are not selling processed meat like luncheon meat or chicken nuggets. -
our major problem… our school population is smal, only 1300 students, hence the recent high inflation doesn’t help the stall holders. For the past 2 years, 3 stalls had quit.
In order to survive, they have to resort to cost-cutting measures… and selling food with cheaper incredient.
On the other hand, we had been asking them to control their prices as we have a good % of parents of mid-low income…
Perhaps we are at a break point. . Challenging.
