Maybe the staff thought that you meant the wallet was missing?

Any feedback on the sunday chinese and english enrichment class at HW? asked around and seems like many parents going to stop after one term. I noticed that ds did not really learn much during the class.

Wushu is not listed because the CCA department will conduct P1 Selection. Parent whose child is selected, will receive a call from the School. Otherwise children may pick up Wushu during P2 if they are not selected in P1. [
            hi lionheart,

Thanks for your info. Like what you said, my son mentioned there was some form of selection during one of his PE class - the children were asked to do cartwheel and other stuff.

Today, he received a form saying that he was selected for Wushu as CCA πŸ™‚

              Issue1:

My son's wallet was stolen during Wushu class. I called up to inform the school. The lady who picked up the phone said there was no returned wallet on Friday. Sigh...she completely missed the point (same as the Old Chang Kee incident whereby the staff say 'it's not an insect, it's not 6-legged'!) - it's not the wallet - there is theft in school and this should be brought to the attention of the discpline master, or whoever...she didn't even ask for my name or contact details. I'm going to write to the school.
On issue 1, how do you ascertain that your son's wallet was stolen? Could it be accidentally misplaced? If there is no evidence that something is stolen, it is at most considered lost.

Congrats.. The resources need to train a Wushu primary school student is high. If you follow, our school team came in Top 3 in 3 Division in the recent National Wushu competitions. I learnt that as a new approach this year, only the best p1 are picked.

For those whom prefer their kids to have 'plan B' via DSA route, Wushu is good choice as HWS has high standards and also it can get direct entry to Victoria, Hwa Chong, Nanyang Girls, Chung Cheng Main and many other popular schools. HWS top sportsgirl Ho Ying Ying was accepted into Nanyang Girl last march.. 6 months before PSLE.

SFE has organized a Parenting Talk on 14-Apr. It coincides with P2 Parent's Talk. I called up the school (on the same day). The same lady informed that she is not aware of the SFE event, said it was organized by PSG. I'm not sure if she represent the school, I mean when she said she's not aware, is the school aware? How can the school be not aware of an event that will be held within it's premise, sent from the school's letterhead? There should be better coordination - events should not happen on the same day, same time.

Now I'm wondering who I shall write to? Principal?
Note that SFE is a MCYS organization and it is part of PSG not part of School. The SFE parent volunteers [children already in School not the mercenary 40hr type] are doing a service to the HWS parents. Both Sch and SFE run on different calendar..there will be bound to have instances that event clashes. it happened and it will always happen. Just contact SFE contact and ask for a refund.

i suggest parents to volunteer for recess duty organized by PSG and see for ourselves. our HWS kids are dumping their wallets all over the school esp during recess. They used their wallets as Goal posts, markers; 'cho-seats' etc. it is common that they just left them behind when they left for their lesson. i had to remind them when i was on duty then. As i see it, this is basic instinct and it has to be taught by family. Please use this lost-wallet as a takeaway and coach children to be more responsible with their belongings.

So is that his choice or your choice? Consider it again.. πŸ™‚ Give your child a chance to dream :).
