reiner:
Hong Wen is a SAP, Higher Chi is taught from P1 onwards. I believe the child is able to drop Higher Chi at P5, correct me if I'm wrong, if the child is not academically strong in the subj.qns here again...

There's no exam but the child is assessed for content and skill competencies through Show and Tell, Read out loud, Chinese oral, practical activities for maths, minis tests for all subjects and I believe Tingxie and Spelling, from what understand from the assessment hand-outs that was given this year.
At the end of 1st semester, you will rec a report book, in it there will be marks and subject banding for each subject. -
thanks SAHM Tan
another qns… (actually more coming up… paiseh!!)
3) the extra classes (help) for the weak student will start in P1?
4) the extra class will be after sch hrs or on Sat? -
reiner:
Do you mean the Learning Support Programme, LSP? At the beginning of school term, the P1 kids will be assessed in their Eng and Maths competencies. If the child needs LSP, the parent will rec a letter from school. The parents will attend a briefing within term 1 and the child will attend LSP classes soon after.thanks SAHM Tan

I'm not familiar with the mechanics of LSP, so unable to share much with you. -
oh that is called the learning support programme… thanks SAHM_tan
then gotta wait for the orientation day to ask… -
reiner:
Not sure if there's time allocated for Q&A session. Last yr there wasn't. The school will organise a P1 briefing. During my P1 briefing, I had the chance to see dd1's class, get to know her form and co-form teachers. The school's management team will address the parents and a Q&A session for parents to clear their doubtsoh that is called the learning support programme.... thanks SAHM_tan

Yup. Last yr, the orientation was a chance for the kids to know their teachers and classmates before school starts. The teacher will bring the class on a school tour. Parents will be briefed on some admin matters and to complete some forms.
It was also a time to buy books, uniforms, arrange transportation and BASC. I made my purchases on a separate day.
The P1 briefing was to help parents understand what primary education is all about and a chance for us to meet the form and co-form teachers. -

The P1 briefing was like 1-2 months after school started. If I remembered correctly it was held on a Sat morning.
