Thanks.
After all this time, I think I will reserve my opinion only after I have attended it. Will keep you in touch what went on?SAHM_TAN:
Although my kid's foot is not on HW's soil yet, my preferance is without the kid attending the session. I just feel that it's better for the kid
DS1 was sharing with me about his erhu classes (the additional music element that all kids have to undergo - either erhu or guzheng). He seems to be enjoying himself in the class...so rare! Ask him to practise piano is like dragging a cat to bath.
Am glad that he get exposure to chinese instruments in school - and without having to join the chinese orchestra.
Plus there's no extra fees right? -
SAHM_TAN:
I think there is but it's fairly low and probably paid out of Edusave. Thus far, I have not coughed up money (except for the numerous magazines); I recall faintly there were some forms to complete to authorise the withdrawals.hquek:

I was under the impression that under the reviewed enhanced MTL teaching and testing methods, there will be no ting xie. There was this MTL Review Committee and they released their recommendations in Jan. Maybe it will be implemented by stages or I misunderstood.
Tingxie is part of their assessment (small bit though) and is conducted regularly. What's missing is the big exams twice a year. For P2, they only have that exam at year end (no mid-year exam - or whatever they term it these days).SAHM_TAN:
Thought under new system no more ting xie? -

I went and i was so blur, but luckily the Pro-teach teachers are kind enough to bring ALL P1 students around the school and asked them to write their top 3 faviourite CCA in order for them to chose.
hi, if my son gets into HW next year, may consider to put him in e after school care. Can advise what are the Pro-teach charges? -

I have no clue - but think it's less than 300 per month. IF you are keen, remember to zoom straight to the Proteach counter becos spaces are very limited - last year, registration was held during orientation.jo_chua_lim:

It's $245 per month. Once you have confirmed a place in HW, call proteach to enquire about the vacancy. You are required to pay one month deposit to reserve a place.

He's still young - view it positively; it's good that the school wants to spend more time to nurture your boy. -
