May I add that under 2B, thus far, there were no balloting required - so all got in - I get the feeling that there are more and more pvs, so it's anyone's guess if there will be balloting in future. As for 2C, there has been balloting within 1KM - so if you are staying outside of 1KM, and only intend to go under 2C, better have a backup plan.
I was updated that the Huay Kuan had many new applicants this year after Heng Hua(s) knew HWS produced a President Scholar and a SAF oversea Scholar last year. Besides in the recent Alumni function, the Chairman advised that there is an increase of parents signing up Alumni Association lately. On the other hand, a group of around 10 special-interest group PV have just approached me last weekend to help them for 2013- 2014 intake I foresee there will be very few 2C seats in future. Maybe in future only 2B within 1km is safe. The rest of the PV may have to ballot into HWS.
hi all
hope to join you guys in a few years as this school is near my place. need to volunteer?
just wondering how do i check which mother tongue language available in hw?
for parents with kids in hw, how are the teachers? are they caring, nice to students?
guess im not the conventionally go for psle kind but i hope my kids to love their school and learning
I'm a parent PVing in HWS.
HWS is a SAP school, so there's only Chinese as MT.
This school is rather popular in the area, there's balloting for phase 2C in recent years. So if you want higher chance then good idea to volunteer.
My kids not in HW yet, so will leave the other questions to other mummies
If anyone still think coming to HWS for 2014 thru 2C, i guess Parents have to be realistic with their chances. -

The youngest that we saw is 22months (obviously rejected)...how early can we start PV?
sahm_tan>> your child born which year? when u start PV?
thanks
i still received query for 2012 intake (obviously rejected too).
For HWS, it is 1.5 year before admission. -

Learned from last weekend Alumni AGM, the SMC has deposited the money into HWS bank account liao. But MOE hasn’t approve yet.

Oh no, looks like it'll be harder and harder to get in
my child was born in 2008. by 2015 dunno still got chance not.
Luckily we are within 1km.
can we check on PV application procedure from this thread nearer that time, lionheart?
excuse me coz i just joined in, you are a member in the school management board is it?

hi dimension, wow, you are early on.

Actually things change from year to year. I strongly encourage that you should call up the school directly to check than rely on this thread for PV procedures. Parents can only give our one sided view which may not be reflective of the situation. -

Thanks for the update.. Really hope MOE will approve this soon... So those pupils who is in or those future HWS pupils to be can utilise this facility and benefit from it...Update on Swimming Pool..

I also can foresee if HWS got their in house swimming pool this school. Getting in to this school is even more and more difficult. -

Lionheart,
This problem had been studied by PSG with School P.Vez:
Hope the school can consider to let the pupils to go recess by batches....
I understand some school they actually practice that... e.g. P1 & P4 ... or lower Pri dismiss 10 min earlier etc..
Since 3rd wk of school my DD has been bringing lunchbox to school (either bread or cake). She told me she don't want to q up to buy food from the canteen cos a lot of people.
Actually i can understand her cos last time in CCC. Those aunty will sent their lunch to their classroom. No need to so called fight with others... Moreover those P1 kid so small build how to fight with those upper pri pupil.
As and when i will ask her: Do you want to try to buy food from the canteen. Then she will said: NO MUMMY I WANT YOU TO PREPARE LUNCHBOX FOR ME
The school started with 2 recess period 2 years ago. We found that Upper and Lower Primary can't play together or School can't organize program at School level. Also the noise of the overlap recess affects both upper and primary group (when each group is at Classroom). Imagine, the noise distracts the lower primary at the 1st floor. Lower primary Student would be alway staring out of the classroom and not focusing on their class.
In order PSG to study the situation, we had Duty Recess moms to survey the situation for 3 weeks last year. i suggest you can volunteer and help the Recess Mom team for a few days to experience the Recess.
- the current situation is the best we can get with lower primary given 10min head-start. Lower primary gets to buy food first.
- the challenge is the first 10mins as most children rush to buy food so that they proceed to play. the Q is long.
- usually after 15min .. .. many will be playing and buying food is easy. The Q is much shorter.
Your suggestion had been raised every year and reviewed.
Check with other PSG, it is a common problem among single-session school.
Thanks.
You got the point also...
