Did your son speak up to defend himself?
FT has all the good things to say about son. Chinese Teacher opp. Think my son is not interested in Chinese hence he talked and played during Chinese lesson!

SAHM_TAN:
No. As part of the stuff we buy, there are 2 packs of chinese flash cards. Wasn't sure if to bring to school or do what with it. teacher say to leave at home and 'play'; and told us what kid should know by now etc. Very detailed their chinese teacher and very 'say it in your face' also (ok, I like that last bit).
The teacher use flash cards in class? That's interestinghquek:
We were a bit after you, so I went to see chinese teacher first. She was very detailed in telling us what we should be doing etc (text book, chinese flash cards etc).

Yup, sometimes it's better to say it as it is. At least know what to expect. So you flash the cards in front of him like those right brain activities? -

Clarify: I was the one who think son not interested in Chinese. Son did not defend himself - most likely it's true.

There are many kids that dislike Chinese. including my 2 sons. No doubt we use them at home or encourage them, somehow they just do not like the language. headache. :?

It's the weirdest thing. We speak Mandarin to the kids since they are babies. It was the most natural thing to do, we did not make a decision to be so. Both our standard is B3, but just naturally speak Mandarin to them. Since they go to kiddy, both like to speak in English. The most amazing thing is DS, he only started to speak in full sentence in Mandarin recently but he can speak English in full sentence after spending 6 months in kiddy. I have a theory that English is somehow more \"attractive\" as a language than Mandarin

You did not mention that he's having difficulties with his work so I take it that he's ok academically. I have not implement this on my kids yet, but maybe you can consider setting a wkly timetable for him. Once he accomplish the tasks listed, he can get a number of stars and once he accumulate a certain numbers, he can exchange them for something......hello i'm new in this forum.. i hv my p3 son studying in hong wen too..

My concern is if he understand his work and with tuition, he might be bored and in the long run not good for him too. Just my opinion -

my youngest boy is clever but lazy, realyl lazy i must say... he can use like 3hrs to complete his xi zi (chi practice writing). my 2 elder sons are not as clever so i got to look at them closely to teach them question by question.. really very tired after a day to look out for him..
if there is any chi center around that i can leave my son there to do his hw daily, that would be good... he hates chi and tat's why i wanted him to study in hongwen... there r more traditional chi students there than other christian schools...
