PAL - I can't quite remember what it stands for, for it's along the lines of participation through active learning. No books to be brought. It's two hours where the kids learn different things through different activities in groups. They can go outdoors to hunt for things.
MPE: Mass Physical Education. The kids usually go for a walk at the beach.
CME: Civics and Moral Education. There's an activity book for this. Usually in the Mother Tongue language. The book should have been given to the teacher last week.
ER: Exploring Reading. There is a book for this. It has the words Exploring Reading on the cover. The kids should have given it to their teachers last week.
FTGP: Form Teacher (G...?) Period. Essentially, if I don't remember wrongly, it's a period where the form teacher teaches them stuff like how to behave. I can't remember whether or not there is an activity book for this subject this year. Have already thrown away my book-list!
Sorry if my info is not quite complete. My elder boy is in P3 now, and I've learned to relax a lot more. I used to be very uptight about not getting him the right books in P1, but now, I've figured that for the non-core subjects, if the kid forgets, the teacher will just tell the kid what to bring next time, so problem solved!
Things usually settle down nicely after a bit, for both the teachers and the pupils. So hang in there, everyone! -

Hi,
MPE is a mass pe comprising of the p1 to p3 students. It's usually a mass walk across the bridge to the beach and back. Heard that they will b doing the first mass walk to the beach for the year this coming Fri. If it is raining, they will do mass pe in the hall, stretching n aerobic kind of exercises. My kid enjoyed it v much then, but now that he is in d upper pri, they don't do mass walk to d beach anymore.
As for FTGP, I think it stands for Form Teacher Guiding Period where form tcher gets the time to interact with his/her own students either one on one or in small group. There's a book this year for it, written \"FTGP Journal\" on the front cover.
Cheers -

PAL - Programme for Active Learning (PAL)
As part of the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) recommendations accepted by MOE in 2009, PAL was introduced to strengthen the emphasis on non-academic programmes for Primary 1 and 2 pupils. This is in line with a key desired outcome of PERI recommendations to balance the acquisition of knowledge with the development of skills and values. This is to prepare our children for a more dynamic future. Conducted within curriculum time, PAL modules provide pupils with broad exposure in two areas โ Sports and Outdoor Education, and Performing and Visual Arts. It aims to facilitate the well-rounded development of pupils in the five learning domains (cognitive, moral, social, aesthetics and physical) and help pupils to develop social emotional competencies.
FTGP - Form Teacher Guidance Period (FTGP)
FTGP serves as an additional platform for Form Teachers to build better rapport with the pupils so as to enable them to identify the needs of the pupils and provide better support for them. The teachers undergo training to equip them with the skills and resources for them to carry out class-based activities that will better support the development of pupilsโ social-emotional competencies. Through FTGP, pupils will have a more structured environment for class and peer interaction, understanding of their emotions and needs and more conversations with their teachers. We hope that with the new structure in place our pupils will grow to be individuals who are confident and having the resilience to overcome future challenges and achieve success. -

Oh! I thought it was because two of friends's children didn't receive d letter to enrol for it. Hmm...I better inform them for this yr.
Hi I'm not 100% sure about this. But I think it is by invitation. Initially, I thought all students can sign up but I notice the letter issued to my son had his name specifically written on it. And he mentioned not all his classmates got it. The turnout from his class for the actual Maths class was less than 10.
Ha ha blur me. I thought that its an open registration cos he was given the letter since P1 without fail. Anyway, he enjoyed it and I intend to sign my DD up if she's 'invited'.
Hi parents, how would the Maths teacher assess which student can be invited for P1 NeuroMath? Does the teacher do assessment or tests to assess? If yes what does it consist of and when is it usually?
:thankyou: -
Hi anyone knows if NAPS has DSA classes? If yes, what is it like? Do students sign up or do teachers select?
