my place is also within 2km to tkps. we will be under phase 2c, unless u are a PV, then u will be in phase 2b & 2c. personally i think both schools seems ok but i would prefer a cohort school, moreover i hv another younger boy.

actually i’m a PV in kong hwa but hv decided to give it amiss as i think it will be too stress for my gal esp she’s slow in learning.

        mummychia,

I am stay within 1km of Kong Hua. We must be neighbour! After much discussion and observation on my son, my hubby and I decided to give Kong Hua a miss. I heard Geylang Methodist Pri has lots of homework too. That is why we decided to head for Tg Katong as a friend used to be teacher of Tg Katong Secondary which is next door and she told us the school is quite good.

        Jessmei,
I heard lots of good comments on Haig Girl. U should take the advantage to register your girl into the school. The school has such a big compound despite is it just a girl school. My girl is in Canossa Convent as I failed to register her into Kong Hwa but it was a blessing in disguise cos her current school treats her very well.

yes we must be neighbours 😄 oh i'm not aware that gmps also hv lots of homework. i did post on that thread but no reply yet. my hubby feels we stand a better chance for gmps since we are within 1km compare to tkps within 2km. but i think since its all under phase 2c so makes no diff rite? so now we will go for whichever has more vacancies between these 2 schools.

actually my gal's preschool also suggested canosa convent but i hv another younger boy so i prefer to put them in the same school.

            Hi Jessmei,

Haig Girl's is also nearer to my place (less than 1km). I had been to the school compound with my hubby last week, we love the school environment. I have heard lots of positive feedback on this girls school.

We are still deciding whether to put her to Haig or Geylang Methodist Primary which is between 1km - 2km distance. I heard from my friend who has a son studying P1 there, there are many homeworks, and the father after returning from a busy day work have to do homework and study with the child, very tiring and stressful for both the child and the father. 😓

Looks like I better go for tkps since both u & j2mum also said gmps has lots of homework. Just hope there won't be any balloting.

So u decided to go for haig since u like the environment? I called up both gmps & tkps but they don't hv any open house

                mummychia,

If u said no difference which is not true. At phase 2c, if the school is over subscribe then the school will divide the applicant into 1km, 1-2km and 2km.
I have not check the status for last yr but two yrs ago, there is no problem for appliants that is 1-2km and even 2km away.

If u want to know more about Canossa Convent u can go to the school thread I can provide more information, we better keep to tkps here.

thanks for the clarification, i have also checked with a friend who is a teacher & she told me if balloting is required, then distance matters.

i also cant find any result for last year but yes i think i read somewhere in the forum that for year 2010, no problem for 2c, balloting is required only for 2c supplementary.

most likely wont consider canossa as i prefer to put my 2 kids in the same school. dont want to go thru another stressful time for my younger boy.

Hi mummies who are considering TKPS ... Allow me to share regarding workload in this school.. So far my son in P1 hardly comes back with school work, even if there is, very minimum and manageable in less than 20 mins. School holiday so far only asked to read 10 Chinese storybooks and write a review of 1 or 2 sentences looking at the space given, which I think is manageable.. And the rest of the holiday is my work and play, play and play. Hope it helps and good luck 😄

                      Hi LNHQ

This thread is so quiet, really appreciate your feeback!! Is your son enjoying school so far? I actually assume that the school will operate in single session by next year, till i checked MOE website that its still going to be PM session for the lower primary. I’m within 1-2km so hope there’s no balloting required.

Yes my boy is happy in this school. It was a blessing in disguise when I was force to choose another alternative. But like all schools, is the teachers that counts too. Single session won't be so soon which I didn't know why. I was under 1-2km last year 🙂 This year seems to have lesser intake. I remember last yr was 270, this year became 240. 1 class lesser. So you confirm choosing this school or still thinking ?
