I believe the child has to be quite outstanding to be talent spotted.

My only gripe is that an ordinary child interested in a particular sports will not be able to join until P3.

I graduated from FMPS 23years ago and am thinking of enrolling my #1 there next year.

Can you share 5 things you/ or your child like or dislike about this school?

Throught the eyes on a child 23years ago, the 5 things i like are:
1) Playing badminton, english chess and playing hide & seek after sch.
2) Kind school teachers. esp a Mr Tay during my P6
3) Not much stress cos only 2 Top classes, the rest are ramdomly mixed.
4) Fun fairs, sports day etc
5) No need to tuck in shirt.

The 5 things i dislike then are;
1) Strict principal (as a parent, i like this now)
2) Ban from crossing to Secondary Sch canteen where the food seems tastier
3) Selling coupons for fund rasing
4) Recess always seem very short
5) Waking up 530am every morning to catch the 610am sch bus cos i stay in Jurong East

Overall, i had a wonderful time.

I wonder what is it like nowsadays? Parents views welcome too.

I would like to check whether CCA is required for Pri One. So far my understanding, this is not required and only when kids are oin pri 3 onwards, then they are required to take CCA. Please advise.
Also, can parents advise what is the program which our Primary One kids are required to stay late (every thursday till 3pm - after 1st semester; i.e. from July onwards)

We are new to the school as both myself and my husband do not belong to this school before but apparently we feel the school is great as the teachers are very helpful and organised. The school security is very strict and tight which is good as it meants our kids are in a safe environment for studies & play. There is a communication booklet and emails (letters) which serves as a dialouge between the school & parents on the child’s daily work & school progress.
The school bus operators are very professional and they take care of the primary one students well for those on board the school bus…

I believed the recess time is generally same for all school which is 30 minutes . As we stay nearby to the school (about 2and half bus stops), so distance is not an issue to us. We can leave the house by 7am.
In general, I feel primary children should attend to school that is near to their house so that they would not be tired & wear out easily.

Have not idea on the selling coupons for fund raising. Maybe other parents can share their point of view if they have come across and whether the school still doing it.

I agree it should be ban from crossing to Secondary as individual school should follow their rules and it also meant for the kids safety.

It’s my understanding that CCA do not start until P3.

To uicbg and dp, i like what i have seen of the school so far.
The admission and orientation process so far has been very professional and organised, my friends’ experience in other primary schools siounded like horror stories in comparison.

No complain so far, except for that initial queue at the school book shop…

P1 kids are not required to stay back after school at all. There are some CCAs which will recruit students at P1 (for the following year). They are band, chinese dance and choir. If your child is interested, he/she can sign up for it.

There was a fund raising (fun fair) for the school 2 years ago, which to me is fine - mission schools always have to raise their own funds coz they do not get full funding from govt and do not accept $$ from SingPools.

I like the new principal. It is a good school and my DS is fortunate to get a really good FT!

Personally for me, I feel it is a good thing the kids not req'd CCA at P1-P2 as the kids are still young and they are adpating to the new environment and new life in a primary school education system
Why I asked because some other schools started to have CCA for P1 students.

May I check with parents any idea what is the program about for P1 kids whereby they are req'd to stay late on every Thursday till 3pm starting from 2nd semester (July) onwards?

Any idea why the Assembly is listed as one of the week program in their timetable? Isn't Assembly an every day routine?

Also, may I check how much Edu Save is a child allocated? How does the system work (when & how to use the fund) and how the system would refund the money back to parent? If we do not utilise it in the 1st year (primary one), would it spill over and accumulate in the 2nd year?

I wondered about the Assembly thingy as well, i guess you would be able to clear your doubt on the meet the parent session on Jan 23.

The meet the parent session is split into 2 Saturdays. This is listed in the principal’s letter and calendar as distributed in the newslink to the students during the first few days of school. You can also download the newlink from the school website


The P1, P2 and P4 session is on 23/1/10, P1 session is between 10.30am to 12pm.
