Yup...did anyone ask what's the reason for the sudden change in timetable? They have 1 more PE lesson per week now.
That's right. I'm also quite surprised that timetable has changed at this point in time, after a month in school. And it took effect today! Imagine they wear uniform and do PE.... -

Hi, some info for those parents with kids from IH if you’re interested. Below are info I gather from the teachers:
About Online Chinese Homework (from Ms Chia yesterday via email):
"The pupils done their first on line exercise. It is on the e-tutor. The homework your son mentioned was meant for this weekend. I had printed the step by step instruction which will be given this afternoon.
You made 2 payments using Edusave. The $25 is for the LMS portal where the teacher will create on line exercises for all subjects.
The $17 is the E-tutor/E-zhishi (好朋友/知识画报) on line.
As for other exercises you see in LMS, The pupils/parents will be informed when there is on line exercise to be complete."
About EL Show & Tell (from Ms Maslinda yesterday via email):
"As for the Show and Tell next week, there isn’t any guidelines for the pupils. However, teachers usually will be explaining to the pupils about it the week before the actual presentation (that is by end of this week) so as to give the pupils an idea of how it should be done and prepare for it. A demostration by the teacher, followed by a volunteer from a pupil, will be shown to give a clearer idea, which includes a standardised opening and ending speech.
We do not limit any duration to the pupils. If need to and time permits, we do allow more chances for the weaker pupils to try again as they gain confidence while their fellow classmates are doing it.
During the presentation, pupils will be given a chance to talk without any interruptions or disruptions until they end the speech where teachers will then give some relevant comments to the pupils. At times, teachers will need to assist the pupils in correcting some words or sentences during their presentation." -
Village Girl:
I think top 3 classes extended from P3 to P6 (6A, 6B & 6C). If you look at the NCPS Top 10 PSLE students for 2010, 9 of them from Class 6A. Looking at the PSLE outcome, it keeps me wonder if school has poured all resources into these 3 classes (cream of the crop) to the extend that other mixed-results classes are neglected. 9 out of 10 from same class...humm.workingmom:
Hi - can I find out how is streaming done in from Pri 2 to 3 ? How do they allocate the classes ?
workingmum, according to my girl's teacher, they would have top 3 classes for P3, the rest of the classes will be randomly mixed. Thus, if the overall school position is in top 90, they will be in the top 3 classes. -
Hi all,
Any advice on how you managed to enrol your child under Phase 2B? I am not a SHHK member so the only way to enrol my child would be to apply for PV but the school advised that they only select about 10 applicants out of 100+ applicants. Also, I am not sure if I stand a chance since I stay <2km from NCPS.
Any advice based on your experience would be greatly appreciated!
Would you know when NCPS will transit to single session and what time will school start then?
Thanks! -

It should be the top 120 as the class size increase to around 40 in P3.
I think the rest will also be distribute based on their results and not be mixed. School position will be indicated at the end of SA2 in the report book.
The school really focus on the top 3 or 2 classes only.
There are some parents not very happy with such arrangements when they know that A-C classes have this have that, but not others -

It only makes some students feel good and elite, others become low self-esteem and morale. I feel that students who are good will be good no matter what friends they are with. In fact, I felt poorer students will still be able to catch up if given a chance. Myself is such an example. No teacher in my Primary school will believe I eventually graduated from university with very good results when I was always the last or 2nd last in my class. The intention of MOE/Sch is always good, but problem lies in the implementation, when focus shifted unknowingly to only those classes/students at the expense of others. Implementing such a system is not trivial.
