We got her a pair at Bata too, after the school's one gave way in Mar/Apr. Not sure about the new one yet, as DD hasn't worn it yet. Her legs grow quickly and while we had preferred to change to one size bigger given that there has been a 4-mth wait, the bookshop was adamant that they will only exchange size for size (obviously hoping that the students will outgrow the size and will have to buy another pair even if the shoes has not broken yet...).
Got my girl a pair of black school shoe from Bata last year when the book shop did not have her size. Bata's shoes are pretty good, it can last till now. Plan to get a new pair from the book shop after this Sept holiday. Are the new shoes better than before?
What we plan to do is to let DS wears them when he goes to P1 next year... So will only know whether it will last come next year

My girl is in P1 at YZPS this year and she’s adjusting really well to the school.
I do have just one worry, and that is the purchase and distribution of the Student’s Diary at the beginning of the year. I had to queue up at the bookstore to buy it for her earlier this year one Wednesday afternoon. I was almost close to the end of the long line of queue at the end of an hour’s queue, when the older children were dismissed at 1pm. All hell was let loose at that point in time, and the bookstore was literally swarmed with kids. They shouted, squeezed and jostled their way through to buy the Student’s Diary. The situation was hardly civilized.
My older boy who is completing P6 in another school which has this student diary system never had this problem during these 6 years, since his school arranged to have the diary distributed to the classes directly, and the payment is collected through bulk payment via cash/cheque with other necessary items, such as subscriptions to 知识报, Little Red Dot, locker pad lock etc.
I still cringe with fear from my memory of that scene of classic chaos. I understand the school office’s concern is the possible additional workload on teachers for this task of distribution. However, I would like to request that the office would consider having the Student’s Diary distributed in a more orderly fashion in the coming years.
Thanks

The school would like to assure parents that we have since reviewed our internal process to include the Pupil’s Handbook in the Y2012 booklists for Y2011 purchase. The Pupil’s Handbook will be ready for purchase this year during the scheduled purchase dates.
Sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Hi, i've got the letter to report for orientation!

Also, where can i get the booklist so i can buy from popular or others?
Thanks alot!

Wow, IM impressed wif e sch's efficiency. I do not have any kids in this sch but YZPS even ans parents' queries in this thread. :salute:
Now I understand why e take up rate is getting higher each yr.
Good job YZPS! -
We’ve got the letter too. Just curious, what is the motivation to buy the books and uniforms from outside and not the school itself? Is it to avoid the queue?

It would indeed be helpful if the YangZheng school admin is monitoring this site and can address any issues brought up.
I am in fact very keen to know whether the school already has any plan or schedule on moving to single session, rather than having P1 and P2 students on afternoon session. It would be easier for parents with more than one child in terms of logistical arrangement, to have all kids on the same (morning) session.
Thanks! -
Dear Parents,
As of now the school is still working with MOE on moving to single session and hence will not be able to give a confirmation of the year as such.
There are many logistical matters to look into before moving the school to single session. As such, we seek the understanding of parents on this matter and would update parents on the status the moment plans are confirmed.

Thank you for replying. Can I also ask: how long is the estimated lead time required once a decision has been made, for the move to single session?Dear Parents,

I do appreciate it is going to be a mammoth task, so it's going to take some planning and preparation. Hypothetically, if a decision is reached by mid 2012 for the school to 'move', then would it be at all possible that this can be effected in 2013 Jan already? Or will it need at least a year to make arrangements, in which case the earliest will be to implement it in 2014? Or if it needs 2 years of preparation, it will be 2015 earliest...
Also, according to the primary education review (or something) or masterplan, when is the latest that all primary schools must move to single session?
Thanks. -
I also received the letter but inside dun have the booklist attached… Please advise is it being missed out???
