Is it confirmed that it is a bigger class size ie 40 children now as compared with 30 previously because it is single session now? This applies to all levels including P1?

        Dear Parents

In accordance with MOE’s guidelines, P1 & P2 will be packed at 30 pupils per class to allow the pupils time to transit from kindergarten to primary school. At the P3 to P6 levels, class sizes will increase beyond 30.

        Thank you.

        Regards

Actually can’t bear the thought if ‘packing’ children in classes. Would the school considering ‘pegging’ instead?

Did any parents attend the Teachers-meet-Parents sessions last week?

I went for both DS and DD’s sessions.

I was quite disappointed with the time we had to wait for a few of the sessions. Some parents are obviously a lot more inquisitive and curious about their kid(s), but teachers should have known to control the time spent on each parent, so as not to cause others to wait too long.

Either that, or hopefully the school can plan better for future sessions.

            tks…

Oh. Didn't attend. Was busy with work. I have given the contact number for the teachers to contact me . Not sure whether they will call. But doesn't matter .

I prefer to talk over the phone than to meet the teachers. Many a time , parents have to wait more than half an hour and just got to talk to the teacher for 5 to 10 minutes. Sometime, U want to ask more but there are parents waiting . So can't talk much to delay the time.
I prefer to attend the parent briefing n the learning fiesta which I think is quite fruitful . In fact , I would like sign up for more but can only attend 2 sessions.
I find it very useful to learn from the teachers on the tips to teach . But surprisingly, not very parents attended . The sessions I attended had only a few parents . I have a good chat with my girl's form teacher 😄

I went for one session when DD was in P1, saw the situation, and decided not to turn up again, while explaining to DD that this is because I feel it is counter-productive to wait in line indefinitely to see the teacher, trying to ascertain that everything's ok, when both of us know she is doing ok in school. I would usually send an email to ask the relevant teacher if there's any clarification needed. They would always reply or call. And yes, the Learning Fiesta sessions offered a good chance to meet up and chat with the teachers at a time when they're more candid.

I’ve attended the parents-meet-teachers sessions almost every year, but it’s becoming routine, although the teachers might change. And for some reason i’ve never attended the learning fiesta. maybe i should give it a try next year.

i’m not sure how the school organises it, but i had more problems waiting for the sessions that were not scheduled (MT), while the sessions with the form teachers were more manageable - about 15 min or so.

for one session, we waited about 70 min, and the parents just before us went on and spoke for about 30 min!

We felt the teacher could have managed the situation better…

My ds is having his Oral Exams today and tomorrow. Being the last in register number, he has to stay back in school till 5pm both days while some of his classmates enjoy earlier dismissal at 3:30pm. Wonder if the school could consider reversing the order for the students to be tested so each day different batch of students are held back later. My elder ds will be having his next week, still hopeful for the school to do something about it.

Further to the arrangement for the Oral exam, the children were made to report at 2pm instead of the stated 2:10pm. Class was dismissed late instead of 1:40pm sharp. The 30min break was cut to 20min and then shorter again due to late dismissal and waiting time for food. By the time they get their food there’s hardly enough time to eat, so my son’s friend threw away large portion of his food as I was told. My son however finished his portion but was like 5min later than reporting time. Within this 3hr duration of the Oral exam, no drinking is allowed as they’re either in the hall or library where drinking is prohibited. Please, I hope the school has a better arrangement for the next Oral exam.
