Hi, my son has just been transferred to Yang Zheng. He is going to P1-A. Is there any whatsapp group for this class?

Ladies checking with you, coz my girl will be going to Primary 1 next year.

For you who can put in either Yang Zheng and CHIJ lady of good counsel (or maybe other school), why you choose to put in Yang Zheng? Initially hubby wanted to put in CHIJ, but I’m not comfortable with girls school, and my sis mentioned that if the current principal of Yang Zheng is good, we should stick to Yang Zheng. But my SIL mentioned the kids are very rowdy, as she passed by the school quite often. So just want to hear some feedback from parents, especially the feedback about the principal. Thank you!

My girl studied at YZ, she's now in S2.

Son is at YZ now, taking PSLE this year.

The school is generally ok, but is not those top schools. Teachers have been decent, although sometimes kids will say don't like this one or that teacher - but that's common for all students i think.

The principal is a Science person, so I would expect that the school should have some more emphasis on its science curriculum. But she took over maybe 3 yr ago, and any results from any changes, should be manifesting about... now? She was once i think a HOD at NYGS, teaching gifted students, before later becoming VP at Rosyth for a brief period, before YZ.

There's a good mix of students from different races in the school. They have a sports fiesta every year where kids play some sports, and parents are invited to go and support. I've been doing that for 7 yr already.

But the school isn't huge. It doesn't have a big soccer field, if anyone is looking for that. When necessary, they will borrow neighbouring Zhonghua Sec's field. There's a gate at the fence between the schools for this purpose.

Oh, one thing: the students mostly wear PE attire to school. My son has not worn school uniform for i think 2 yr already... 😄

Ahh.. thank you so much for your review! That has been so helpful. Indeed the school compound isn't big and I always see the students in pe attire

Yes, not sure why the school decided to let the students not wear uniform (and just wear PE attire), but I'm not complaining.

The other peculiar thing is the students wear black coloured shoes! The official ones they sold years ago, simply didn't last. We decided to get them from outside since a few years ago.

The morning traffic there can sometimes be a bit of a jam, when parents send their kid(s) to school, which is made worse by having Zhonghua sec sch just next door.

But that's nothing compared to what I see now when sending my girl to sec sch, as the vicinity has a number of schools and traffic was at a standstill for long stretches! This makes YZPS chicken feed in comparison.

Oh, YZ is not far from MRT stations, so it's quite convenient for those who takes MRT.
