        Thank You.

Yes, my elder girl is going to P1 next year. I heard the CCA is only for higher primary students?

Any suggestions and advice to a new P1 parent would be helpful.

I am moving over to Serangoon soon, so going to school would be easier for my elder girl. But my younger girl is still in kindergarten at my current place, so still need to drive her to school. Come the day when both are in the same school, then my car can rest at home.. πŸ˜‚ ..

My gal also going to P1 nxt yr but its under phase 2c. Kinda worried cos the seats really limited. Went to the mini open house last month, saw the CCA and the timing. don't know which to choose...and the timing also important as we might choose certain CCA that their schedule might clash with each other.

Any parents could reckon which CCA to join would be very helpful. πŸ™‚

            Hi atrecord,

My DD is also going to P1 next year...Do you put your children in the student care?

Sorry, didn't get chance to check this thread recently, as was juggling work and family in june/july (both me and DW had to travel for work...).

            Hi LiLing,
Nope, my kids are not in the student care, as we're fortunate to have my mum help to look after our DD before/after school (depending on which day). Guess we'll have to continue to count on her to do the same next yr, when DD goes to P3 and DS starts P1.

But i know the hairdresser nearby sends her kids (P1 and P2) to the one in the church...

Oh ok...that's good that you have someone to help look after your kids. I'm waiting to get seat cfm in yzps before I register my gal into the student care..

Dragonflow, the wednesday Modular CCAs is for Primary 1 &2 .

My suggestions to you are they must know a little about Han Yu Ping Ying.
My regrets is not teaching her mandarin earlier but now she is able to keep up with the school's lesson. πŸ˜“
You can look up the school website, under the letters for parents and more or less you will know what to expect for the coming 2012.

                Hi dragonflow n others,

Thks a lot for the sharing on the school. Really has been informative.
Will be registering my girl under 2c phrase next week . Hopefully, no surprise . Shd be able to get in easily since mine in within 1 km
                . 

How is the Chinese standard in the school. The main reason why I choose the sch rather than plms is the chinese. I prefer a stronger Chinese culture sch. I thought one or two years ago ,I saw in the newspaper that the sch mgt committee is applying to moe for SAP sch status.
If it got it, it will definitely become a β€˜hot’ school.

I actually haven't had much feedback or info about the Chinese standard now, but Yangzheng started off as a Chinese school about a century ago. The Chairman of the school board is a respected accountant who also chairs a clan association. So perhaps they will place a bit more emphasis (compared to PLMS) on Chinese.

I should try to find out more about it too...

Oh, the school has a good mix of difference races, being in a housing estate.

From I what I get from the letter to parents, it seems that the school has the capacity to accommodate all primary levels in one single session. So going single session during 2013 is highly possible.

                    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
                    16. SINGLE SESSION FOR LAST 2 WEEKS OF TERM 4

16.1 From 8 November to 17 November, the P1 and P2 pupils will be attending school in the morning together with the other levels. This is to facilitate the end-of–year administrative matters and also rehearsals for the Annual Prize Giving Day on 18 November 2011.

16.2 The school has already liaised with the bus vendor for the necessary bus arrangements for the P1 and P2 pupils taking the school bus. We seek the understanding of our parents/guardians fetching their children/wards home to make the necessary arrangements.

16.3 The reporting and dismissal timings for the P1 and P2 pupils during the 2 weeks would be as follows:

                    Day Reporting Time Dismissal Time
Monday to Friday (excluding Wednesday) 7.20 am 1.10 pm
                    Wednesday 7.20 am 12 noon

16.4 There would be no change in the reporting and dismissal timings for the P3 to P6 pupils.

I see quite a list of CCA listed. Are they all available for P1 and she can only select one CCA for the year (since it is only on wed)?

Hanyu PinYin is alright for my girl since she is attending Hanyu Pinyin class per week in school currently. I think YZPS have a little more emphasis on the Chinese language given the school's traditions and background. I am a ex-Yangzhengnite, the school just adopted the English teaching during my time.
