Hi, I am a newbie here and glad to find this support group 🙂

May I know how to register as parent volunteer for Poi Ching? There is no information on this on the school website.

      Thank you.

        Hi parent,

Not sure do you have the same problem as mine. My DS is in P3 this year and I realised that the form teacher (for English, Math and Science) didn't have much time for the students. Sometimes for more than 2mths there is no homework given, comparing to his P1 and P2 there were homework given almost everyday.

No fixed spelling day too, there was once my DS learnt and prepared for the next day spelling but ended teacher didn't conduct on that day.

Do your child's teacher marked their SA1 papers? My DS marks his own papers. Maybe i'm still in my generation but i feel SA paper should be mark by teacher. I could understand if teacher lets student mark their own practise paper or test paper but is mid year exam.

P3 this year for my kid's homework has reduced greatly.... even my P1 boy has almost no homework daily, and no wkly chinese test....
I remember when my elder was in P1, daily homework and wkly chinese test.

My DD in P3 have homework 4 to 5 days weekly...anyway tomorrow is PTM... Maybe you can question them...

Ya, it was crazy at that time. I'm still complaining too many homework but now it's the other way. Now I've to give DS to do worksheets to keep him busy and to maintain the pace. :scratchhead:[/quote]No lah, SA papers are not marked by student. The MCQs are marked by reader which reads the Optical Answer Sheet (i called that toto thingy). So the orginal MCQ papers are unmarked. After the test, teacher flashes the answers and students get to do corrections. So, it's perceived marked by students themselves.
As for the homework, hmmm, it's can be a good news bec maybe your child is able to cope better in P3 as compared to P1? And so he can now finish his work at school while P1 can't. Mine still the same...those who 'lots' of homework in P1 still have 'lots' of homework in P3, and the one with 'no' homework still has 'no' homework. Reason of homework....cannot finish in class + lots of corrections.
As for the weekly test, isn't chinese has a weekly ting-xie which is also quite time consuming to learn the phrases and dictate the last 2 phrases?

I have 1 set of P3 Houghton Mufflin Reading. DS does not want to keep them anymore. First-hand and in very good condition.

If you are keen, pls PM me.
