Hi, I know it’s a bit late… Pai say, loss that zest like my boys were in P1… now then start thinking abt textbooks…

I would like to give away P4 usable textbooks which are Chinese, Social Science. Any takers?

Anyone have P5 normal chinese textbook (not higher chinese) to give away? Thanks.

Does anyone know how the classes are distributed for P5? Which are the classes with the same standard?

Hi, dark chocolate. Are you referring to how are the students allocated to the classes? What you mean by same standard?

I heard they are allocated by putting 1st top student in 5C, followed by D, E, F etc right? Which are the weaker classes for P5? Are they 5G, 5H and 5I?

Hi all, I attended the school briefing yesterday conducted by the new school principal. Not to jump the gun any earlier but seems like the new principal is a lot more academic focus than the last?

I got a boy in P5 this year and the amount of homework seems to take a huge leap forward from P4. Any parents got similar "feel"?

are the pupils streamed according to results at end of P4? can anyone share how is banding done, is there a top class etc

I believe the top class is 5C.

The new principal didn’t impress me much, no feel abt the more academic focus part. I managed to ask DS’ FT though and was told C, D, E, F and G are the same in terms of standard whereas H and I require more support. Anyone knows what he meant by contacting PSG for scores of 2014?

My DS is in P5 too. HW wise, I can see its more difficult but otherwise, most of them are completed by the time I’m home after work.

Looking at what he said about good schools, cut-off points, DAS etc, he seems to stress quite a fair bit about students after PSLE going to \"good school\" and I thought MOE or his biggest boss Mr. Heng said every school is a good school? Kind of contradicting isn't it?

What I do not like about the teachers in schools nowadays is the double standards that they got. :stompfeet: One great example is my boy tried to put in extra effort to learn all the spellings (be it Chinese or English) even with all the homework given and on the day of the spelling test, when majority of the students said they did not learn all (due to the enormous amount of homework), the teacher back off :slapshead: and postponed the whole spelling test to another day or week. IMHO, I think this is not fair to students who make the extra effort to learn them all.

Sigh..Teachers nowadays are no longer teachers in the older days..
