I really hope that these are isolated cases and will be nipped in the bud.So far, some examples of bullying...
1) Shoving and pushing during recess / games / on staircase, thereby causing bad falls
2) Using stationery (eg. mechanical pencil or metal ruler) to scratch or injure others, causing cuts
3) Using finger nails to scratch others deliberately till there's broken skin
4) Tripping others on purpose
5) Kicking others' buttocks (narrowly missing the testicles) when they squat down to tie their shoelaces
6) Intentionally destroying other people's property
7) Scuffles and acts of gangsterism (intimidation, mob attacks)
and many more...
I personally think those acts that cause injuries must be dealt with seriously. In the adult world, such acts are called assault.
My boys will be joining MS in 2014 & 2015 - my husband is an alumni and my f-i-l an ex-teacher so I don't have much choice as they really want them to follow in their footsteps. As mixed-race children who take more after the non-Chinese side of the family, I do worry about them being very obvious targets for bullying. Luckily the elder one is very big for his age but that may not help with the older students or for the younger one. -

My nephew suffered the bully for 3 years before transferred to Rosyth. The bullies commented him of being small size and no \"ball\" to fight...So far, some examples of bullying...

Does this means i need to send my son for classes to learn to defend himself since the scjool seem to be not doing anything? I was hoping for a school with discipline but this seems to be non-existant based on what i am reading.
Yes, I think so. I wanted to enrol my boy in taekwondo but the monitor with the black belt is in that same CCA. So I think I will sign him up for Wing Chun classes outside. He wanna be an Ip Man...
I also agree with Namie that sometimes it's better to retaliate than complain to teachers. My son is too chicken to punch back so he ends up \"disturbing\" the teachers very often with his complaints. The teachers don't seem to like to manage bullying incidents IMHO. -
MMM:
Happened to chance upon this thread as looking at MSHS for my P4 boy. Was :yikes: to learn and :xedfingers: that the naughty ones don't go to MSHS.
All boys schools are like that... too much testosterone... that's why I'm hoping to transfer my boy out to a good mixed school if possible... praying for GEP... ahahaha -

Actually... I have some thoughts. My kids are now in mixed school and I am hoping to put them into single sex secondary so that they are more focused iso looking at opposite sexMMM:

But after so many bullying incidents, I am wavering... just hoping that he can end up in a good secondary school, hopefully the boys' school in bishan.
