I received a long email from form teacher of 1G yeasterday. Was shocked at the amount of things we need to prepare for the lessons....from the additional stationery to labelling every Math worksheet. Was up until past midnight to prep these

Hihi!
My DS is also in 1G. I'm also appalled by the amount of things that we need to prep! I also find the FT emails authoritative and intimidating. Don't quite like some of her comments in her emails and how she refer the children by index number

Same feeling here. The homework seems geared towards the parents not the kids. She thinks that we parents just sit at home to do her stuff, the timeline for those things she wanted to complete is so tight! And she make it seem that your kid will be embarrassed if it was incomplete.

Thank God! Iβm not alone!
Btw I will PM you. I think we need to get connected and support each other. -

I was discussing this at home and was wondering if we were too sensitive in judging the FT (P1G) given that the year just started.
Keeping parents posted and over (as oppose to under) communicating is perfectly fine by me. -
Frankly, I don't think we need to or can do anything at this moment. Just have to observe how the boys progress over the next few weeks/months? We can do only whatever we can within our means and time that we have to prepare the \"must-have\" & \"must-do\" but just \"glad\" to know we are not alone. Just to add, I printed the Day 2 email (and dated 7-1-2013 - makes me wonder ...) and it was 4 pages long :yikes:
But some of her replies (to separate emails) are quite crude, i must say but that's my sad story anyway. -
For the P1 parents, you can clarify with the FT later this month (think it is 24Jan?) during the Parents-Teacher meeting. You can clear some doubts and have better understanding from the FT expectations, as well as for the FT to understand your predicament and concerns.

No doubt her email is very lengthy but I think she is trying to \"make it simple\" for us (busy parents). The more she explains to get to her point, the longer her email... Haha....
At least she bothers to write such email in the 1st place. I have not heard from my DS FT till now and you all have already received at least 3 Emails... Must also give her some credits for her efforts la...
She even take photos to show u the end product... -
Hey Bro! It appears that my son Jotham Ong (1D) is your son's Nathan Wong (1D) good friend! He told me your son is his best friend!
:boogie:
Did Nathan share anything with regards to my son Jotham to you? :imanangel:knyghtryder:
We stay pretty far from MSHS (Yishun) so we are resigned that our son will be first to get picked up and last to get sent home. Regarding food, we pack some food for him in a lunch box and he eats it during the ride home when hungry.
So far he hasn't really given much feedback about his first day. Maybe us parents of 1D boys can share what information we know.
btw, my son is Nathan Wong (1D) -

Hi etherealife,
hey knyghtryder, did the bus uncle allow your son to eat on the bus? My son told me they are not allowed to eat on the bus
having some issues with him finishing his water too as they need to ask permission to drink water in class
thanks in advance!
My son has been told that he is not allowed to eat on the bus. So far he has only eaten from his snack box after he reaches school.
As for drinking, we encourage him to use the water coolers. He hasn't been thirsty enough for it to be a problem. -
Lionel Ong:
Hi Lionel,Hey Bro! It appears that my son Jotham Ong (1D) is your son's Nathan Wong (1D) good friend! He told me your son is his best friend!

Yes indeed! He has mentioned Jotham his good friend.
It's hard to get details out of my kid. But I do know that he and your son and a couple of other boys with similar names have bonded.
So far I'm quite pleased with how things are progressing. Ms Hailwa seems quite communicative. I hope Mdm Chiang has lots of patience though - Nathan doesn't exactly get a lot of exposure to Mandarin at home.
