Oh mine..... I guess it is different for different class.
My gal got both the chinese and english spelling papers on the same day..
Hope that the Chinese teacher will give out the list soon so I can help my DD...... cos she came back and told me she forgot how to write what the teacher said. As for what the teacher said, she thought about it for quite a while and gave me a blank look......

Hi lvkt,
My daughter very worried her MT scolds her agin...she says the MT goes too fast and interrupts everytime she wants to ask/speaks
my gal is not lefty, she's dyslexic and her Oral dyspraxia makes it hard for her to speak...she will start to splutter and stutter and get all the sequencing of words and pronounciation wrong when she gets NERVOUS or under PRESSURE..
I am ,needless to say sooooooo worried about my gal

Hugs to you......
Besides the phone calls, you want to try writing an email to the Malay teacher to explain your DD situation to her? At least she cant say its her lunch time or she has a meeting to attend........ -

Hi acbj,Tinkerbelle:
DD told me that they have a test yesterday and she was told she belong to a group for Chinese.
Are they going to band and group the children so soon?
I'm not sure if the test your DD did yesterday is related to the chinese group banding but the sch does band the students according to the academic abilities for MT.
For P1 this term, grouping might be random or based on the teacher's observations but from next term onwards, it's definitely according to the teacher's assessment of your DD.
For P1, your DD will only be in this class for 1 term. Next term, they'll change class according to how they'be been banded. Those who are weak in MT will be allocated to 1 class where they'll cover ε―Όε ₯ and ζ ΈεΏ components in the textbook at a slower pace. Majority of the pupils will be banbed into the standard class where they'll cover ζ ΈεΏ component.
Those who are stronger in their MT will be banded into a high-ability class (called the enrichment class) where they'll cover ζ ΈεΏ and ζ·±εΉΏ components. ζ·±εΉΏ component is not tested in exams; it's just extra work to stretch high-ability students. The teacher teaching the enrichment class last year was a Chinese native.
Hope this info helps to clarify any doubts.
Thanks for sharing.
I hope I understood correctly, it means that they will either move out or stay put at the class depending on the group they are banded and their Chinese classmates are from different classes, right?
Hi acbj,
Group banding and class banding are different. All MT classes are banded and in each of this banded classes, the teacher will further band their students into different groups. In other words, even if your DD is in the top Chinese class, the gals in that class will be further banded in higher-ability students and \"average\" students. Banded classes are easier to identify but banded groups in each class are harder to identify as teachers tend to group some high-ability students with some weaker students in each group. That way, the high-ability students can also assist the weaker ones in the group.
For now, your DD is banded into a group in her class based on her teacher's observations. Subsequently, based on your DD's performance in an impromptu test end of term 1, the teacher will then band her into either remedial, standard or enrichment classes in Term 2. The gals in standard classes will stay back with majority of the class, while those who move out of their class for MT will join other students from other classes to form either the remedial or enrichment class.
