Hi Threefuchsia24,Hi mummies,
My girl brough her spelling book home and I realized that they had been given spelling last friday based on the list for the diagnostic test. my girl also told me that she was given a reading test today. Any idea what's happening? Tot the test is scheduled for next week?
For P1, the teachers will test the kids earlier on the words meant for the diagnostic test to let the kids know what to expect on the actual day & for them to practise the words. For the spelling diagnostic test, all spelling will be done on an official piece of paper, not in the spelling book. All the best. -

Hi acbj,
I thought these tests are 'Pre-test' revision exercises.Threefuchsia24:

Her class did theirs on a piece of paper, not in the Spelling book.
My DD also brought back the Chinese 'Revision' Test paper.
I thought it is to show them how and what they will be tested on.
I am wondering if these revision tests will also be part of the component included to compute their Term 1 scores....
As for the reading test, my DD told me there was a Chinese 'oral' test last week. Are you referring to this?
My DD told me that her class will be having Maths Pre-test tomorrow.
She also list out the areas that they will be tested on.
Haven't seen you around? Have you given birth yet?
You are absolutely right....Spelling & Chinese test papers are all pre-tests so the gals can have an idea of what to expect & identify the areas to improve on for the real diagnostic test.
Usually, marks scored in pre-tests are not included in the computation of the gals' CA1 score. I'm not sure if the above mentioned reading test for CL is the real test but for all written paper, next week's tests' marks will be taken into consideration. Marks for topical tests over the term will also be taken into consideration as well. -
Good morning everyone. i have been following the thread recently, but seems to me nothing is mention about teacher. How do you guys rate your form teachers? i feel that form teacher somehow can make or break a child in some ways or sort.we are still new to MMCS, our first year went well. i found the form teacher quite supportive specially to Mrs.Ho. I take my hat off her,she is very motherly!! is it taboo to discuss teacher behavior in this site?

Hi Tinkerbelle
My BB is still very comfortable inside.
I am the one who is uncomfortable with the weight and aches.
Thank you so much for sharing and clarifying.

Totally agreed with this...The sensitivity and understanding of a teacher is very important to the child esp those in P1 and 2 when they are still in the fragile stage. Unfortunately, my DD just had a bad encounter last evening due to the teacher's insensitivity

Hi Worriedparent74,
Thank you! I know IAm not alone. The thing is teacher must realize every kids are different. Scolding them in front of the class damages the child's self-steem. Comparing them to the good student and making them feel a total looser isn't the way to motivate a child. Mummis pr daddies out there, how would you handle this kind of delicate situation with out compromising the good teacher and student relationship in the class room? -

Actually we do share about our impressions and experiences (if any) we had with the teachers. As for rating them, personally I think it's rather subjective and everyone have different criterions.
I totally agree with you that teachers have a huge impact on our children. The children even like and work harder on a particular subject when they like the teacher more!!! At least, I did when I was a student. Hee.... Hee....
There are quite a number of us who either wrote emails, speak through the phone to feedback or request for meet ups with the teachers.
Have you talk to the teacher regarding your concerns? -
