Hi LLX04,

Yes. No school tomorrow. The pupils are to log in to http://www.lead.com.sg to do their assignments. After you login to the site, there is this notice at the left which links you to a word document that states what are the assignments that need to be done. There are a total of 9 assignments.

Anyone noes if that means tmr there's no CCA too?

        Hi cantbearit2,
DD2 said that it was announced today that there will be no CCA for lower primary gals tomorrow. Your DD can sleep in... πŸ˜‰
tinkerbelle, :thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:

not sure abt.gifted, didn't attempt to established.IAm totally with you, as long as my DD is happy no pressure. Sometimes we got so excited abt the gifted idea that we push the child way way hard that it kills the fun of studying. For me, I let her do it on her own pace and I know she is very happy in her class. πŸ˜‰

YES!!! Very much, but I'm dozing off.

After she completed, she was asking for more. Telling me this is more fun than sch.

aiyo, fr this e-learning, realise DD is pretty weak in Maths (yes, surprise cos thot MT is more diff for her). Pretty upset cos DH has been coaching her for Maths. But knowing DH, I shld not b surprise. :x He will juz do the bare min & will not bother to explain how the relations of the nos. works. When he's back hm fr meeting aft lunch, he will noe. :nunchuk:

Tinkerbelle, how many times in a yr do they have e-learning? Can they log on even during normal days to do the lessons? It's pretty useful I muz say.

                        Dear cantbearit2,

You are so funny, just looking at the icons (oops!, it should be 'emoticons':)) make me LOL! No choice, in Singapore, if not hands on, then will have to depend on tutors. Let's face it, how many children at the age of 5 think of 'studying' :). It is all 'play, play and play' :). That is why I teach through 'play'. I am definitely more for the 'relax... learn at your pace.... learning is a lifelong process..., etc' type of a parent. My older daughter studied in international schools as we were overseas for 25 years. My younger one is going to be in the Singapore school system. I personally feel that children here are pushed to 'grow up' way too early in life. It's like they have to 'go to office' at an early age :(. Sad, but true.

At this stage, I am just putting the tools in place for my younger daughter and then see how she copes in school. I don't want my child to be an unhappy kid. I just want her to be a kid :). She knows that I am always there when she needs me - be it for play or for studies. I adjust my working hours to suit her timing for play and studies.

I guess we parents are all the same - we do what and all that we can for our kids. Bottomline, we just want to see smiles on their faces. πŸ™‚

                        Gin:

With my little girl, I make flashcards with words she learn from school and we use that for Word Games. We scramble all the words (about 10 each time) and then we have to read aloud the word before we can grab the flashcard. In this way, we have fun and she gets to learn at the same time. Sometimes, she likes to keep playing and learning new words through this method. As I usually write in cursive writing, I prefer to print the words out from the computer. Writing them out would require less time. We play this game with Chinese characters, numbers and English words.

My little girl loves the routine of playing a board game and reading 2 books before going to bed. I just continue to read to her and she is welcomed to join in the reading if she feels like it. Sometimes, she likes to search out just simple words like 'lion' or other words from the pages of the book. We go to the AMK library once or twice a week and we usually have 12 books at any given time, at home. It is not a pressure cooker at our home, I just make the tools available and hopefully she will pick them up one of these days and make good use of them :).

Please do not feel bad because you are too busy or tired. We can only do what we can - after all, every parent just wants to love his/her kids :).

                        Wow Gin,
U R such a hands on mum! :udawoman: :udawoman: :udawoman: Yur DD is so lucky!!!! πŸ˜„
