Tinkerbelle, thanks for sharing, the programme looks good and the quizzes seem rather interesting!Tinkerbelle:
Tinkerbelle, what exactly is the stellar programme? I keep hearing it being mentioned...
Hi michyms,
STELLAR is a language teaching programme that helps P1 & P2 students acquire English language skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Teaching is done through the use of the 'Shared Book Approach' whereby \"big books\" are shown and read to the class and the various themes portrayed in these books are explored. Check out this link to get more info about stellar:
http://www.stellarliteracy.sg
You might want to let your DD try out some of the fun quizes under \"Resources\" for Students. The kids usually enjoy learning as it's fun. Enjoy
Is there any specific programmes for the teaching of chinese as well?
Hi michyms,
There are no programmes like STELLAR for teaching Chinese. All primary schs use the same chinese text book, depending on whether the sch teaches standard chinese or higher MT. MCS only has standard chinese for P1-P4.
Nowadays, with the change in MT syllabus, more emphasis is placed on listening, reading and oral skills in lower primary. In P1, only HYPY will be taught in the first 3 months. Basic characters will only be introduced from term 2 onwards. -

They sell other schools' uniforms too. I remembered some1 tried on the ACS. If you can fit in secondary size uniforms, i think its shouldn't be a problemAnybody can give a heads up? Is this the TPY uniform shop?

Thanks Tinkerbelle, isn’t standard chinese also offered in P5 and 6 as well? hmm, 3 full months of HYPY - that’s quite different from our days I guess when HYPY was kind of a by the way thing. My girl’s CC is already teaching HYPY so hopefully that will mean she’ll have an easier time absorbing when she gets to P1. -

oh daddy, I was gonna ask the same question too
