Hi ohdaddy,Tinkerbelle:
Anybody can give a heads up? Is this the TPY uniform shop?
United Uniform
168 Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, 310168
hmmmm I wonder if they sell adult-sized uniforms! Halloween coming lah! You never know if someone might throw a school-themed party again
Yup....that's the uniform shop.
:rotflmao: So are you planning on wearing the MCS pinafore???
Moreover, cannot wear that out of the house or the kids who of course would be left at home for that kind of party, would be very confused at what daddy and mummy are up to. Must be like a teen again, but this time keep the pinafore inside the bag when leave the house, and change into it in the car before the party!
ohdadday, I am trying to imagine a man wearing the MCS uniform :rotflmao: and yes better have a camera ban

Pari, I guess I can forget about BASC either, and have to leave my dd at home with the maid! Where do you live? Maybe find one near your place instead?
-
Pari, yes, I am thinking hard about how to how to make my girl more responsible for her own studies. :scratchhead: Nowadays, the spelling and ting xie for K2, I'm always the one telling her its time to study. Maybe I should just tell her I expect you to study on your own, and see what happens
Or is she too young for me to expect so much? :nailbite: -
Dear All :),
My DD will also be joining the MCS big family next year. Hopefully can meet some of you during the 19-Nov orientation. -
mommyto3js:

Tinkerbelle:
:thankyou: michyms. Usually, DD1 is not nervous with oral exams but this time, the stake is higher so I guess she'll be nervous speaking in front of 2 teachers whom she's not familiar with.michyms:
All the best to all P6s with their PSLE Oral on Thurs & Fri. Jia You!!! :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah:
All the best to your dd! Is she nervous about the upcoming exams?
Tinkerbelle, yes, I recall during my PSLE I was facing 2 teachers from another school... :nailbite: Seems like such a long time ago. And now the stress is because our girls have to undergo the same thing.

Tinkerbelle:
Hi michyms,
Thanks Tinkerbelle, isn't standard chinese also offered in P5 and 6 as well? hmm, 3 full months of HYPY - that's quite different from our days I guess when HYPY was kind of a by the way thing. My girl's CC is already teaching HYPY so hopefully that will mean she'll have an easier time absorbing when she gets to P1.michyms:
Hi michyms,
There are no programmes like STELLAR for teaching Chinese. All primary schs use the same chinese text book, depending on whether the sch teaches standard chinese or higher MT. MCS only has standard chinese for P1-P4.
Nowadays, with the change in MT syllabus, more emphasis is placed on listening, reading and oral skills in lower primary. In P1, only HYPY will be taught in the first 3 months. Basic characters will only be introduced from term 2 onwards.
Sorry......typo error.......Standard Chinese is offered for P1-P6 at MCS but only Higher MT is offered at P5-P6 level. Thanks for pointing it out.
Yes, definitely different from our days. Nowadays, with the intro to HYPY, I find that DD2 is very reliant on it. When she reads Chinese book, she tends to read the HYPY, not the Chinese characters. :slapshead: In the end, sound like foreigner reading chinese.... keke
Great that your DD has already started on HYPY. It'll be a breeze for her in P1 then. :boogie:
Tinkerbelle, I think these days most kids who grow up in English speaking homes sound like foreigner reading chinese :rotflmao: When I hear myself read, I think I also sound like that, as I grew up in a more English school, and all chinese standards were questionable :faint:
