Hi michyms,
Tinkerbelle, that is \"so near yet so far.\" I guess it's because the bus goes round and round all the blocks and your friend stays at a further end of AMK. I am even thinking of moving to Bishan from AMK in future, if necessary.Tinkerbelle:
Yes Gin, you still have plenty of time to decide and work out the best options for your DD. Just to share, friend's DD lives in AMK and only reaches home at 7.50pm by sch bus so in the end, my friend decided to fetch her instead.
I totally agree with you....\"so near and yet so far\". Yes, the bus does goes round and round AMK and my friend stays near Mayflower Sec sch so her DD is the 1st to get on and the last to get off....so she's usually super hungry by the time she gets home.
If you are not at the far end of AMK, I'm sure your DD won't get home that late.

Gin:
Hi Gin,Hi michyms and Tinkerbelle,
I am staying just close to the Cheng San CC. so I can imagine my DD2 may be the last one to get off the school bus.
BTW, michyms, did you receive my email?
Maybe you would like to call the sch bus operators to check with them the exact time for your location. If it's not too late, you can still consider the sch bus. I remembered my friend trialed one of the AMK bus routes for a month and decided it didn't work for her. That's another option for you to consider.

Hi ohdaddy,
Yeah I was thinking that can't take school bus too from what everyone here is sharing. I live near Holland and by time the school bus sends her home IF there is one that comes around, it would be 9 pm. Like that sure gastric my kid! :slapshead:Gin:

Don't think your DD will get home at 9pm.
There is a bus that plies Farrer Rd so I guess it should go to Holland as well. If you are concern about your DD being hungry, you can always pack some light snacks for her to eat on the bus. I've seen many gals eating on the bus as the buses leave the sch.

Hi everyone,
Have a happy & safe Sept holidays. Enjoy!! :imcool: -
Tinkerbelle, thanks for your concern. My 3 kids were down with hfmd, but have since recovered and gone back to school.
I actually live just across the road from Mayflower Secondary School (near the Bishan Park side), and the MCS girl who takes the bus from my area gets up the bus at 11.40pm and arrives home a little past 7. Infact, that is very likely the first few stops. So it's really strange that your friend's dd gets home so late! :scratchhead:
What are your plans for the September holidays? Are you going away as well? Or does your dd1 have to study and revise for PSLE? -

Oh dear, your poor kids......Glad to hear they have since recovered. Can imagine you must have been busy looking after 3 sick kids. Now can put your legs up & chill...keke.
I just double checked with my friend and she lives opposite Mayflower Primary; not Mayflower Sec. Sorry, got mixed up...I thought Mayflower Pri & Mayflower sec were beside each other..keke
We won't be going away for the Sept holidays. DD1 needs to go back to sch on Thursday & Friday; plus only 4 more weeks to PSLE so this is the best time to catch up on some revision. Will probably just bring the kids out for short breaks. DDs want to go to the Forest Adventure & watch The Smurfs. What your your plans for the Sept break? -
Tinkerbelle, I was working at home for many days, and it was a little crazy trying to work and break up fights at the same time :slapshead: but just glad its all over now
Ah, yes, Mayflower Primary School is really quite at the further end of Ang Mo Kio which explains why your friend's dd reaches home so late. Whereabouts do you stay? Also in AMK?
Where is the Forest Adventure, that sounds really fun! And I also want to watch Smurfs - relive childhood memories of watching Smurf on Sunday mornings :rahrah:
Only my youngest one has a school holiday, my older 2 are in the childcare so they have school as usual (plus teachers are trying to make up for lost time while many kids were away during the hfmd period). Just our of curiousity, do the kids in primary school get hfmd? I seriously hope not, as I can't imagine school being closed for 2 whole weeks! -

Wow...you're truly a wonder mum...fancy trying to work at home, taking care of 3 sick kids, breaking up fights etc. I'm sure you must be glad that life in your household is back to norm once again....hehe
No, I'm not at AMK. I'm at Bishan....not far from AMK.
Forest Adventure is at Bedok Reservoir. It's great for kids who are active with too much energy to spare....like my gals...keke. It's for kids 5 years and above. If your DD1 is interested, check out the website: http://www.forestadventure.com.sg
Ya, I remember watching smurfs on Sundays as a child too...that seems like many moons ago...keke. Watching with the kids will surely bring back some sweet memories.
DD1's classmate ever had a mild case of HFMD which was picked up in the early stage and was kept at home for 2 weeks. The sch did not close down and lessons were as usual for the rest of the class. Guess the sch did not feel that it was a threat as long as the affected child was isolated for 2 weeks & certified well enough to be back in sch by the GP.

Ohdaddy, I agree with Gin. The bus would go straight to HV, and if you are the first few stops, your girl may be home by 7.15pm even?

Gin:
Hi all!Hi ohdaddy,
But I think you should contact the bus operator and find out, if there are not too many students coming from the Holland area, it might not take too long. You can go to the school website to get the contact number of the bus operator, call them up and find out how long the bus ride is likely to be.
thanks for the advice. Yeah, best I ask first and get a rough gauge, and maybe try for a month see how.
