Tinkerbelle, thanks for the advice. This year, they are using the Casco Revised Primary English for a textbook alongside all the other readers (which I have not seen). The Casco book covers english in topics like nouns, pronouns etc. I recall learning English that way in primary school and its quite boring :snooze:

Michyms... expectation is different now for Primary one .. Nouns, pronouns are all taught in K1 and K2.. so P1 they are expected to know what are these... -
KSmum, I guess P1 would be more of a revision then… but i was seriously bored looking at that textbook. Hopefully they are taught around themes which would be more lively.

Hi,
Yes, during DD2's time, DD also used the Casco Primary English and all the MCS worksheets were themed-based and much more interesting than our days. I'm sure the P1 gals will enjoy their lessons
Hi KS Mum, thanks for reply.
Anyone know the difference between rythmic gym & artistic gym? Any advice on selection of CCAs?
ryth gym is the one where they whip around the ribbons, batons and hoops. art gym is the horse, beams or floor that comes up into us when we misjudge grip, speed or distance. i only knew the difference recently.[/
Hi Ohdaddy, thanks. enlightened but still unable to decide wat fits dd better :slapshead:
Hi SP Mum
My dd is in the school team of Rhythmic Gym since she was in P1. It's floor exercises using freehand (P1), ball/rope (starting fr P2), hoop/clubs (fr P4). The selection is done through PE3 lessons. If you see under Achievements of MCS, they have been awarded $100,000 for 3 yrs to develop based on excellence in Rhythmic Gym (MCS has been winning top spots in inter-school competition).
There aren't many schools offering Artistic Gym in secondary school. SCGS is one of the few. As for Rhythmic Gym, there are more choices: St Nic, CHIJ (Toa Payoh), RGS, Nanyang Girls. School of Sports does not offer Gymnastics in their curriculum.
Do PM me if you want more info. Have fun! -
