hi,LLX, For 好朋友, should I check with the Chinese teacher or form teacher? I do not have the Chinese teacher's contact.
Ohdaddy, has your dd brought back any 好朋友?
you should check with the chinese teacher. If you do know the name of the teacher, you can find out her email address from the mcs website - teaching staff. My dd's mother tongue teacher is Peng Liangyu.
好朋友 is given on weekly basis and it follows closely with the school textbook and its quite comprehensive with compositions written by other students, passage with comprehension, words to be learn and write and some sentence matching. Therefore, its quite useful and colorful with lots of pictures.
my dd1 always look forward for me to read the story passage inside. -
Hi everyone,
It's with great disappointment that I read about all the admin dilemma some of you are facing. Maybe this can be brought to the teachers' attention during the Parents' Briefing. Hopefully, communication between the sch and parents will improve, expecially for kids in the lower Pri.
Today, DD2 was told that all students can wear CNY costumes to sch tomorrow for CNY celebrations. This was told to them verbally at such short notice, with no newsletter from the sch. In the previous years, there had always been newsletters to inform parents about wearing ethnic costumes.
For the benefit of P1/P2 parents, tomorrow (Friday) is single session for the whole school. P1/P2 have to attend sch at 7.15 am -1.30pm. All students can wear CNY costumes for CNY celebrations tomorrow but it's not compulsory. Those who are not wearing ethnic costumes, can just wear their sch unioform. Hope this helps.

Tinkerbelle, there was a letter about the single session and wearing of costumes for the P1 kids… perhaps they forgot to give to other levels?
CNY costumes - does it necessarily have to be ethnic or can it simply be any type of dress etc? All my dd told me is that teacher says cannot wear spaghetti straps. -

The letter was dated given out on Monday if not mistaken.
P1 kids can wear CNY clothes or their own festive clothes provided it is not too revealing . Proper shoes of their own choice . (Excluding strapless sandals, high heels, slippers) -
The letter I received from the Principal states that teachers will inform the pupils on the lessons that will be conducted and the necessary books and stationary to bring for tomorrow. However, we did not receive any info till date. Does tt mean my dd need to bring all the books and art folder? What kind of CNY celebrations are they organizing? No clue at all.

yes, very true
My dd also don't know about good friend magazine. One less homework to coach her.

Has anyone seen the Maths papers 1.5 to 1.7? Some ridiculous questions. I suppose they are typo errors but I think it is crazy to hand out such papers. Confusing our dd’s.

12 pages of Maths Homework and 1 poem one night before they have to wake up early in the morning for school. My girl is just finishing them!
-
Gin, that sounds bad. I just spent the entire night coaching dd for the hypy spelling… I haven’t seen maths 1.5 yet… Dd has brought home only up to 1.4.

Good to hear newsletters have been given out to P1 to inform them of the single session & CNY costume. Guess the sch is cutting cost this yr in view of sch upgrading so no newsletters for the upper pri gals.
For CNY costumes, it doesn't necessarily have to be ethnic costumes. You can wear anything as long as it's not too revealing or too short. No high heels allowed.
