Gin:
12 pages of Maths Homework and 1 poem one night before they have to wake up early in the morning for school. My girl is just finishing them!
My dd2 also had 10 pages of math to do last night, the teacher stressed that they must hand up today so that she can mark them over the holidays. I conversed with her and she agreed that there are more hw for p1 as the school wants to do pull up the standard. I hope they don't have hw for this CNY so all the parents and DDs can have a great rest and enjoy CNY.
Gong xi fai chai to all too! -
LLX, hmmm… So even the teacher admits there is more homework! Not sure if that is a good thing though it’s meant to pull up standards. Heard this only started when miss lim tooks over as the P.
My dd still has quite a few pages of maths to tackle this CNY. Plus spelling too, at least I have time to space them out.
Happy New Year to all mummies and Daddies! Have a good holiday! -

Yes, my hubby says the queue was all thew ay past braddell view, but it cleared within 5 mins
Hi gorilla,
We were there at 7am so traffic was still ok. But as we U-turned to go back towards Bishan, we could see the long queue of cars going towards MCS. I guess it is only so when the P1 to P6 classes are together in one session.
I cannot imagine what it would be like when it becomes single session!!!

I checked with the Chinese teacher on the 好朋友 and she said she had kept the copies for the girls as she was worried that the girls would lose them... And it will be given back to them when she feels that they are more settled
thankful for teachers who reply to my emails so promptly! -
Gin:
thanks for your views. and always good to hear first hand from people who tried other systems before.ohdaddy,
Huge difference in teaching styles and standard. I find that the international schools my daughter went to - kids really have more time to grow at their own pace. Primary levels are very much 'discovery' phase. From Year 7 onwards, workload increases but not as crazy as here. Children are more matured by then and therefore better able to handle more writing etc. Kids enjoy school. They turn out more confident about who they are - individuals. -

hi quick question to people who attendedpreviously / are attending the coming parents-teachers’ meetings.
is it normal that they close the gate between the school and the kindy next door, to discourage parking in the orange valley and kindy grounds, during the meeting periods? it sounds like a major hassle driving and parking to attend the meetings. …almost as if they don’t want to make it convenient for us to attend the meetings. -
Ohdaddy, the issue is the lack of parking in the school grounds, plus the kindy will complain if everyone parks there. Unfortunately school not in the middle of a neighborhood where we can do HDB parking… I reckon nearest is to park at MT A or take a cab?
