iLoveChubby:
I only saw the notification letter on specific CCAs like Choir, CL Orchestral... i reckon they are trying to select the students early so as to put them in the same Pri 3 class next yr.Callie Tan:
Checking with P2 parents:
Anyone signed up CCA for their P2 kids recently? When will we know the outcome?
Hi iLoveChubby,
According to what I read, once selected the kids will start the CCA this year at P2... Oh yes, think you have a point.. maybe it's for the class allocation next year. But because my girl is currently having her enrichment classes on Monday mornings so I need to arrange if she's going for the CCA, hence I need to find out when we will be notify of the results... -

Hi Mummies of p2,
Wats the homework load for ur kids in P2?
My child practically gets hmwk bk everyday ESP Chinese workbook .
Most of work in Chinese wkbk done at hm.
Definitely the workload is heavier than P1... but I feel still manageable... Cannot imagine P3/4 what's going to be like.... -

Sorry for the late reply! During my child's K2, we received information on the open house. It was three years ago thou........ thus I assume that they still have open house this year too.marmum:
Pei Chun has no open house but I know Kheng Cheng has. Not sure if its over or not thou!
Hi mar mum, how to find out about open house? -
Hi Parents of Pei Chun,
Anyone’s child in any before or after school centre near the school? Any feedback on them, if any. I understand that there is one new centre at blk 4, Skylace. Any feedback on this one too?
Today is Racial Harmony Day! Understand from my child that there may be some stalls selling food and games/ activities (he was telling me if there is the "carriage" ride like last year, he would take it). I think he was referring to the trishaw… Any idea what is available for the celebration today? No info nor handout if the kids should bring extra $$ for the activites or food! -
Pei Chun has lots of CL homework because it is a SAP school. Lots of CL homework in P1 and P2 because no need to stay back. All P3 and P4 pupils have to stay back for 2 hours once a week on Friday 1:30-3:30pm for Higher Chinese Language lessons. Parents who stay far away have to arrange your own transport. P5 and P6 pupils have a choice to decide whether to drop Higher Chinese. If drop, no need to stay back 2 hours once a week for HCL lessons which is currently conducted on Wednesdays.

Actually these 2 years (almost) in Pei Chun, I feel that the communication between school and parents has been lagging. A lot of info were not very updated and even if given, they were not complete/adequate. Somehow, this gives me an impression that things are not very systematic/organized...
For eg. info about the Racial Harmony Celebrations were inadequate for parents/kids to know what to expect or what to prepare... I rem we were quite lost when my girl was in P1 because we were not sure how the school was going to do it. The only thing we were told was to dress in some costumes.
Please correct me if I am wrong... -
May I check is the result for the CCA postings out for the additional enrolment for P2s? Read from the PN that it should be released last week… so no news means???
-
Hi Callie,
long time no ‘see’…lol. No news about the CCA postings from my DS too.
Agree that the Comms is quite lagging. Maybe its because the PN is only given once a month?
For parents of P2 kids, do you find that the maths is taught in a rather ‘rushed’ way since the beginning of this term? I find that my DS sometimes could become quite lost about the maths taught in class and we have to reinforce at home. Do your kids face this problem too? -
Hi mamemo,
Basically I must say that there’re lots of room for improvements in terms of school-parents communication. This does not apply only to the school activities but also academic issues… For eg. my girl has a total of 3/4 Chinese teachers this year!! I don’t even know how many teachers they have changed… it all started because the Chinese teacher went on maternity leave… I feel there’s a need for school to keep us in the loop… and hence, the chinese homework etc is messy…
For maths, it’s still ok… nothing too good or too bad… -
Any parents can share on info such as which secondary schools did the Pei Chun P6 students go to? How many Pei Chun students had succeeded in DSA to which schools? Is there such an info? Am hoping to have an idea of the kind of standard we should set for our children in time to come…
