Hi Callie,
My son does not have a CCA now. I am abit puzzled, you mentioned that you did not have an official letter on the offer but how did you come to know that your daughter was selected in VB? The teacher called you?
Does anyone know if there will also be a class for wushu? -
Tks, mummyv. What time does your girl go to bed? Still can manage 8 to 9 hrs of sleep? It is amazing, the way your girl has to cope. Besides the child, the parent also must be very disciplined and no more life!
I will be asking the school why there is no more sports class in P5 and p6 and leaving it to the kids to manage their time. Cant but help feeling \"abandoned\".
My son just got his ICAS results for maths and he got Higher Distinction. Hope the results can be sustanined. Thats why i am still very apprehensive about sports class. Up to now, I am not so inclined to join Sports Class.
Callie - i still find it extremely weird that the school can manage to get decisions about pupils \"dropping out\" of sports class when they have just offered. It just does not seem logical.
Is Weiqi also a niche CCA and does it require a lot of time committment? The teacher in charged who happens to be my son's teacher asked the class if they want to join as CCA. If so, she will give them the form and no need to wait.
As usual, my son said yes. He will say yes to everything. ha ha..... -
hi bridesep
target sleep time is 10pm, wake up 6.15am. ya I used to feel quite sorry for myself/DD with no free time until I came to this forum. What we do is normal, not extraordinary at all. So poor kids and poor us. And I think my DD is one of the few who only has 1 tuition. We hv no time for more and there is no support to ferry her around for more. Most kids we know of seem to have loads. Some are even doing Grade 8 music level at P5. The forward planning of these kid's parents are amazing... since I don't plan much and only react to circumstances.
Yes, pls update what school says. My own deduction is that, school pushes more academically inclined kids harder - faster pace, harder work. So if they keep the sports kids to sports class where the standard differs vastly, it will be too hard for the teachers to manage. Teacher always encourages class to join competitions to bring honour to the school....
Good for your boy High D is fantastic. He will be one of those \"admired\" ones still scoring high 90s/full marks at P5/6 when everyone else is vomitting blood :rotflmao: I think weiqi will be fun since he is maths inclined - he should also enjoy chess.
If I am not mistaken, most CCAs are scheduled 1 hour before HC. So if your kid has no extra CCA, doesn't need academic support, doesn't join optional CCAs, stay back is only once a week. If stay back once a week is your aim, check CCA scheduling. -

i'm at Whampoa area, my son is in P1 afternoon class..no jam to and fro, but sch bus come at 11:15am and reach sch at 11:30am which is rather early. Can reach home around 6:45pm..which is really fast, bus only got 4-5kids..I'm getting worried, as I have another younger one going P1 only in 2015..Hi,
Anyone staying along balestier road? Heard the traffic jam is bad in the morning and evening peak hours... What time is the school bus pickup for afternoon session and what time does the bus reach the area in the evening after school? Any way to arrange for bus transport for CCA days or days when the child needs to be in school early or stay back after class?
Any updates on the single session timing or is it still 2016 as we know _previously?
Many thanks... -

My girl didn't do very well, only managed 22/40... she said the test was done before recess and extended into the recess time and she was sooo sooo hungry that she couldn't really concentrate... Last night we went through the questions ourselves and she got 90% of the answer correct so I think she's just complacent lah, hehehe... m trying to find a reason to justify her results...

Btw, the top student in her class scored full marks....
Your son did well! Keep up the good work... -

I think maybe some parents replied before 19th Oct, which is highly possible... I also don't know...

Anyway, tonight I will be going to the school in hope to find out more. The CO teacher-in-charge has called me and we discussed about the situation. She asked me not to rush into deciding... and that she personally know of a handful of students who manage 2 CCAs well... She also mentioned that there will be some changes to SYF competitions in time to come so the CO might not be graded as in the past... so practise schedule might change too. -

Callie - dont loose heart. Honestly, kids at this stage get easily distracted by external factors.

Mrs Seah has called just now saying I will be allowed to attend the dialogue session this evening. At the same time, she stressed that although my girl is selected but in actual fact, there will be only 16 girls be selected into the volleyball team and my girl might not be one of the 16… ??? So out of the 10 Primary 2 classes, a total of 300 students, the school only select 16 girls and 16 boys into the volleyball teams respectively? No wonder it’s called the niche CCA…
Once again, after the earlier conversation I am even more confused… at first said she’s selected then now said she might not be selected… confusing… -
