Hi , p1 dismissal time will be 5.50pm for this whole week right ?
-
Hi Xiaobai,
You can give the FT a call during the day and or leave a message for them to call back. Its important that they understand what the child is gg through. Above that, PCPS has a very nice school counsellor, Mdm Cheong(she do look fierce), she can speak to the child if there is a need.
hi Joajoa,
Yes 5:50pm for all P1 this week. AFter that, no entering the school to wait for the kids. Pri 1 and 2’s dissmissal can be quite overwhelming. Its like 600 kids together at the same time… -
Hi Kin
Starting next Monday , we can’t wait for them in the school canteen ?
Omg … Think it will be stress for both kids n parents on Monday …
Is ur kid in p1 too ? Are you going for the level briefing this sat ? Do u know is it a must ? Cos I won’t be in spore -
Hi bridesep,
If I am not wrong, I guess its the VB training at Wed 4-6 pm is also for the upper primary VB training because the upper primary release at 4pm.My girl was from the volley sports class last yr, Pri4, and I just checked with her, She said last yr, the Pri 5 , normal non-niche VB do join them for training(last yr), with the outside instructor…
Hi rainbow05,
My girl is the last batch (Pri5) where they follow the old system where their exams are tested differently ie,. not-modular. eg SA1 tested from Jan-May, CA2 tested from Jan-Sept, and SA2 the whole yr. For these students, they are somewhat used to the workload and the amount to revise. And personally , the results are not fantastic as they move up from Pri3 onwards. Pri5 is really the biggest drop but by Pri 4, the curriculum gets tough and sometimes in Math exams, you are tested for what you have learned in Pri3.
After that, the modular system stepped in, I am not sure whether the final yr exams for modular test the whole year’s curriculum. If it does, it is really very tough on the kids. Hope this helps. -
Hi Jaojao, I have one dd in P1 and another in P5. Yes, if you are still picking up yr child, no child is released at the maingate (security guard gantry). All kids go out by the rest of the gates, chck the pupil diary, info booklet for details. And so, you must instruct yr child to wait for you at the canteen part nearest to the zebra crossing ,when they can see you, then they can cross to you. At the timing, the teachers are leaving too, so the aunties will man the zebra crossing, still dangerous…
Briefing this SAt will be on the curriculum. ITs ok to miss, coz the slides will be posted on the website, or you can write on the pupil diary and ask FT (to pass you a copy of the slides )abt it. You prob will miss the Q&A session where the parents will bombard the teachers with qns -thats the exciting part. -
Hi Kin
Thanks for ur Info .... So I can get all the briefing Infos on the slides right ? Then I m relieve .

Thanks for checking with your daughter. Looks like it is tough to get the school to change the timing. So for last year, the later timing is for higher primary and presumably the earlier timing is for lower primary. -

Hi mummyvhi bridesep
It's really not easy parenting. I do not have sons so my suggestions will be based on observations. In my DD class, there are boys who like dirty talk in every sentence and these kids have the ability to moderate their speech when talking to authority figures. These boys are also VERY good students. I would think these boys find it exciting to elicit responses from fellow students when they use bad language. So for our part, we cannot control external factors, we can only try to moderate such influences - speaking respectfully to elders at home - correcting unwanted behaviour and emphasizing it is not cool to speak like that - start early while they are still impressionable. Friends of mine with sons, find it hard to \"make\" their children do homework - so 1 outsources to tutors - the other gets DH to help as DS is more \"scared\" of dad. Both withdraw privileges such as eating out treats, play treats, gaming time when homework is not done. We all do pep talks/nag and try to provide a loving environment that supports learning BUT we are all trying NOT to despair when our beloved kids to do reciprocrate w expected behaviour. It gets harder when they grow up and start to test boundaries. Some parents in KS forum even send their kids to psychologists to counsel behaviour.
Word of caution - it is hard for school to enforce not allowing kids out. Some kids will still leave after attendance is marked. That's why it will be a gem if you can know your child's friends, their parents and suss out like-minded families with similar values and encourage such friendships. Hopefully, positive association helps. As they grow, it gets harder for us parents to be included but we can only try.
Thanks for sharing. Agree that we cannot control our children's every move. I guess we parents tend to be too protective these days and to some extent, we tend to prescribe how they should behave, vs how they feel they should behave. I guess from now till the time all these values get internalised, we will have to keep worrying and freting....
