Thanks Mummy Tang & bridesep for the info!

      bridesep:
Does any parent know what is the format for P3 :
      1. chinese oral and listening comprehension
      2. Eng oral and listening comprehension
      3. Chinese and English Paper 1 ?

Is is quite odd that there is PN on the format. Compared to P2, we would know by now..... :scratchhead:
I understand fr my DS's FT that for EL paper 1, it will be a 4 picture compo and they are required to write at least 100 words.
As for CL paper 1, i thk its only 50 words, if i m not wrong.
There is no oral for SA1... as for listening compre, not too sure..

There is listening compre for SA1, 29 Apr (CL) and 30 Apr (EL)

EL listening compre: 9 qns on picture matching, notetaking and dictation
        CL listening compre: dunno
        No oral for SA1
        CL Compo - 1 pic

There was an earlier PN on exam matters, but not very detailed on the format, mainly on the dates.

btw, any parent what’s the weightage for P3’s 2 SAs and 1 CA ? Can’t seem to find in the PN…

sigh… stressed that this is DS’s first exam of the year ! I feel it’s better to have CA1, at least spread out the weightage and the marks…

somemore, he has performance during the anniversary dinner on 11may, so near to the exam!

I also thot it would be better if they can have CA1, at least we can gauge where their weaknesses are.

But i m q prepared to see a drop in my DS’s SA1 results (compared to P2)… too many adjustments to make this yr…

Tks, Mamemo for the info. I remember this in my head but cant remember where I read it, thought it was in the PN. SA1 is 30%, CA2 is 20% and SA2 is 50%.

I also agree that we will see a big drop in results compared to p2. Missed the MA days. I notice that most schools dont have CA1 these days which I dont understandy why. Is it a MOE thingy? Without a CA1 as a warm up, pluging to SA1 is quite daunting. In the PN, it is stated that we even have to revise P1 and P2 work !! OMG !!!

I also note that from the past year papers for 2012 for P3, Pei Chun is not inside. So hope that the FT will let the pupils try out the 2012 papers.

Mamemo - what class is your child in? The FT really gave a lot of info.

bridesep, the info was from the PN, not from FT. Thanks for the info on the weightage !

Yes, Pei Chun is not in the past years paper set, so cannot practice.

btw, can I check with the P3 parents here, do your DS/DD’s teacher give a mark to the practice compos that they do in class/homework?

No, my son's FT did not give any grades. After the corrections, she will ask the class to re-write as draft 2. She will also circulate the best compo written by the class. It is amazing how some of the pupils can write so well. I must confess that even I cannot write like them !

Hi all, my son is also in P3 this year.

Just to share …yes, there are marks given on the English compo by the teacher, with marks indicated for content and language. For Chinese compo, I don’t remember I have seen marks given.
