My DS is in P3 and came home 1 day crying saying that her Chinese had deducted 10 marks from her this 听写because she forgotten to do correction for the previous 1.
We called up the school level master and they investigated. The teacher gave reason saying that it was a multiple related offence. But my daughter crossed her heart that it was her 1st time. So apparently it’s either the teacher lied to protect himself or he confused her with others.
On fact she already owned up to him that she has forgotten to do correction but he brushed her off impatiently.
Any suggestions what should we do? -
Anyone know if P1 can join table tennis as CCA? Cos my boy loves the sport. Hope to start him early.

Nothing.
It's just tingxie, not SA1. Let it be a lesson to your daughter so she will remember to do her corrections next time. See the big picture. -
Hi, noticed this thread is pretty quiet for a long time. Can we share thoughts on the recent SA1 and the upcoming ptm? Make constructive feedback so that they can improve too. Care to also share if any papers this SA1 is simply too tough or too ez, how can we better prepare our children?

Dear Parents, today my P2 child brought back the MA papers. His grades is between 34 to 36. I was totally upset and so was he. Many were very careless mistake that could have been avoided, especially the Math paper. I reprimanded (and almost canned) him but I thought I might have overly reacted. I could not control my anger and disappointment. I feel so lousy that I did not teach him well.

In the upcoming PMT, do think teacher will disclose the the average grade if i asked? I just want to have a gauge of how my son fairs as compare to rest of the cohort. At least, if this is indeed poor grades, I think I should send him to tuition classes. Currently, I am teaching him on my own and it seems not effective.
Appreciate if parents could share your thoughts. -
Hi Luv_kids,
34 to 36 marks are not that lousy marks. I suspect it’s bec you expected him to get full marks and he didn’t meet your expectations. Since you knew he had made mostly careless mistakes and not he doesn’t know his work, it’s something he has to work on. My dd now in p4 used to get these kind of marks at p2. I also scolded her. But now when I look back at her mistakes, they were really trivial, no need kick a big fuss. What your son should do now is to improve his next test results by learning to check his work. Careless mistakes won’t go away with more tuitions.
At ptm, u can ask the average test results, some teachers are willing to share. -
Have not got back the papers yet, so don’t know what’s the level of difficulty of the SA1s.
luv_kids, I think u taught him well, since you mentioned that most are careless mistakes. So maybe no need to worry so much.
Regarding PTM, from my past years’ experience, different teachers have different way of conducting PTM. Some teachers pretty well-prepared with the laptop to show us the class average and where my kid’s level is. Some not. So if you want to be sure, maybe can give the form teacher a call? In general, the teachers are pretty nice. -

If your boy is especially talented and had won competitions for his age group, u can try approach the cca teacher to ask for him to join in the school team. If jus interested, I don't think the general table tennis cca will take him in. Have to learn outside yourself. -
Hi,
Based on past experiences of my child, they didn’t show us the average for child’s class and their level. As for carelessness, I think it’s in every child, depending on severity. Heard our P3 Eng paper was very ez and some classes with average 42/50, testing on carelessness and not their English standard. However, màth was a little challenging as a lot complained section C lacking of time (son’s class, half raised their hands for incomplete work done). Science and CL normal and same as Eng with more than enough time to complete. My take is ez paper is never to the advantage of any child since they will be sitting for national exams at the end of the day. I rather they be exposed to it and tackle them at ease because teachers taught em well. My child has not received his results except for HALF of his Eng and CL. Think they are taking more than usual time to mark. As for PTM, let teachers speak and we can access if they are doing their job. If we talk too much, wonder if it may affect their impression on our children. Heard teachers nowadays are different…
