well, all.in.one,
I'm really bit anxious. My P3 boy has been in swimming class for almost year, but still he cannot swim without swim board. So don't you think I shouldn't be anxious? haha
I didn't sign up as parent chaperon as the school need us to be able to help in all the 10 lessons, which I don't think I can afford to take leave every week
However, I've taken half day on his first lesson next Monday to see how he do at the pool. -

What is a parent chaperon suppose to do? Does he/she need to be able to swim? Same here. My girl P2 has been practicing with daddy for a long time, still swim with board. Sigh... I suppose there will be swim coach and teacher-in-charge to ensure the safety of our children. Did you clarify with them? Do update on how your son's lesson go. I also want to know.. as usual, kiasu and kiasi (I cannot swim!) hahahaha    -
Hi all.in.one,
My boy just had his first lesson last monday, I was there to give him moral support. They were grouped into several groups, beginner, intermediate, advance etc. There are about 7-8 coaches. Those who can swim, will go to the deeper pool, the rest will stay in the shallow pool.
My boy seemed to be grouped under the beginner, because the coach just asked them to sit at the side of the pool throughout, tried to get them warm up, spashing water on their face. Till the whole session end, they didn't even have a chance to kick water.
Parent chaperon is parent volunteer to help out, they need not go into the water, I think they will only be following the class to and fro and I see them standing there watching only and help the kids get changed after the session. They probably also on standby in case some kids need cry they will be there to console them...that's my guess..haha
I don't think need to worry too much. But still I will try to take time off from work next Monday to go to the pool again to watch him. Will update you again next week
-
Thanks for updating LKT.
Coincidentally, my girl asked me if the swim coach will ask to remove
goggles and open their eyes under water?! I have no idea where that
came from? May be some of the P3s she know told her about it and she
was pretty scared!!! It will be her turn next year.
Please please update whenever you go, want to know more happenings
at the pool! TIA

Hi all.in.one, I am new here, very impress on your frequent update on this thread, my boy currently in P2 too. Would like to know if this P2 assessment only started from this year 2010, they don have such thing during past few years.....:nunchuk: :nunchuk: WDP's P2s will have a new assessment format this year!!! :nunchuk: :nunchuk:
40% from term1,2 and 3 assessment/tests, 60% from SA2 exam.
Do read the pink notice carefully and check with the form teachers for details. Anybody needs more info, let me know and I will post more here. -

Hi Maomiko :welcome: (Are you a Japanese?)
Thank you for coming in to share.. I felt quite lonely.. talking to
to myself most of the time, one-lady show..
Do visit and exchange info more often then we can pull in the CROWD! hahaha..
I hope I have provided some useful info so far.
Yes this is the FIRST TIME they've implemented the \"formative assessment\" for P2s throughout term1,2 and 3.
There was no briefing to P2 parents and I'd feedback to the school
about my concerns. In the meantime, directly clarify any doubts with the form teacher and MT teacher.
This morning, I found one YELLOW sheet in my girl's Chinese Yellow file
dictating what is tested in each test and the result. More to come... ?? :celebrate: -
