but you must be willing to take a risk. make sure your other choices are carefully selected also. if you don't get the 1st choice school as computer selects students with higher COP and by the time it comes to your daughter if there are vacancies your gal will be selected . re your gal's 2nd choice, the computer will give priority to students who have selected your 2nd choice sch as their 1st choice provided of course they meet the COP and your gal will be selected only after the eligible students with this sch as 1st choice are selected . thus, sometimes you may not get your 1st or 2nd choice school because of this though your gal is eligible to get the 2nd choice sch. however, I have seen alot of students who get their 1st or 2nd choice school by appealing . one gal got TKGS after appealing and another has got Anglican High thru appealing. the former had a higher T-score than TKGS's COP but unfortunately her 1st choice had a COP a few points higher than her T-score. as for the latter Anglican high had a COP higher than her T-score but managed to get at appeal as maybe the school had vacancies when their students got other schools thru. appeal . these are things that no one can predict .

This information is wrong. Allocation will be to the higher points regardless of position of choices.

Yes, the above information is very wrong.....

NO priority will be given to pupils who have indicated yr second choice school as 1 st choice.
Allocation of schools is all by merit, the one who has the higher agg score will get to be filled first followed by the next pupil.
Of coz, if yr 1 st choice already met the COP of the sch,
then the system will not go to look at yr sec choice sch, even if u qualify for the sec choice sch.

How the posting is done is very clearly explained in the black book provided by MOE ‘choosing your secondary schools for admission to sec 1 in 2013’ just before the index page. It is merit before the choice and more logical and fair.

hi parents my daughter scored 231 and wants to apply for a school with cut off point of 232 . is it possible for her to get on ? the school isn't a sap school so the hcl is useless right

                  Hi Iamkiasulalol,

You can put the choice school as first choice because it gives you a better ground for appealing in the event you and your still feel strongly for the school.

The PSLE booklet clearly states that it is merit over choice. This just make sure the rest of the choices are \"sure in\" choices.

Best of luck to you and your dd! :rahrah:

Sorry if i am deviating from the topic. Can someone help me clarify how appealing works?. Suppose the system chooses my dd’s 4th choice as her school and she lost her 3rd choice school by 1 or 2 marks, can I still appeal for her 3rd choice or we can only appeal for the 1st choice?.

my niece obtained 240 and she wanted to go to Cedar although the COP for cedar was 243 . her 2nd choice was TKGS and 3rd choice was Temasek Sec. my niece didn't get Cedar of course but she didn't get TKGS though COP for latter was around 234. she got her 3rd choice. if computer allocates schools by merit only and not mumber placement of choices , my niece should have got TKGS. so she had to appeal to TKGS and luckily her appeal was successful. If my niece had only selected TKGS as her 1st choice, she would have got it.

You are posting misleading info. The sequence of choice does not matter. You will get your choice if there is vacancy. Allocation is done by the computer purely based on which applicant has a higher t-score. Refer to the handbook
