wow, thanks so much for sharing all the details and photos insider.. you are amazing :thankyou:
I will be going for abt 12 days so a fair bit of time to look around.. that's why going Jeju.. nobody else will be interested in shopping except me
some more questions to help me to decide where to shop
1. were you able to get a cab back to door-step of STV every time? tempted to stay there even though got elderly with us.. if cab can send us directly to the apartments, still can consider I guess
2. Did you see any children's wear in DDM? thinking of getting some winter wear for the kids.
3. Are clothes sizes very small in Korea? if it is, I won't bother looking for clothes for myself cos I XL and above  Just look for some nice bags and accessories
4. Did you go Namdaemun or area near EwHA women university? not worth exploring?
5. The skincare that you got were mostly from the individ brand shops? read that they sell them at Lotte Mart also, same price? How about the duty free shop at lotte and airport? if all abt same, can buy from DFS, no need to get tax refund right?
So far, have decided will definitely go to Lotte mart, but the others still trying to see where is most worth my limited time..
Sorry ah, I have so many questions, really really appreciate your sharing..
:udawoman:
PS : can't see your facial masks and serum loot leh.. which brand did you buy? -
Thanks insider! Sorry - - I am very fickle minded … With WON so low, thought it’s economical to go Korea now but changed my mind (in a day) - now decided to go Tokyo Disneyland instead
Will KIV Korea for the next trip. -
wow, thanks again for the extensive write up.. i'm gonna use it as my 'reference 'when I shop in November.
spoiler :the gentlemen reading this can skip this post
I have never really tried any of the Korean products before and in fact been really lazy in my skin care routine.. hence quite terrible skin ..
It's sensitive combination ( oil T zone and dry cheeks etc) type and everytime I try anything like sunblock or moisturiser, I get milia /oil seeds. :x . so a bit 'give up' on my skin but reading abt your loot has inspired me
Insider, anything that you can recommend me from your extensive research and trials? read that hanskin and dr Jart is good for middle age skin? how abt Dr G? Thinking of trying BB cream but afraid it will be too rich for me.
Thanks -
Hi Insider,
After reading all your write-up or review on Korea, made me wonder how come I missed out so many places/things during my trip few years back
must make another trip there … too bad my Dec’09 already reserved for Tokyo Disneyland upon DS request … -
Thanks insider, will try the UV milk.
I have booked the guide you recommended. May I find out if he merely acts as driver or does he really talk abt the place, abt the history etc. Does he stick strictly to the timing indicated on his website or more flexble?
at the dragonhill spa, was there a family hot springs (private)or one where we could wear swimsuits.. my funny son is asking if can go hotspring in Korea -- he enjoyed our attached outdoor onsen at our hotel in Hakone. but mummy shy lah
where did you get your vit C ampoules from? how abt tony moly ?
cheers -
Hi insider,
After seeing your post, i feel like flying there to shop as well. Have been there twice many years back but didn’t really go for shopping.
Anyway, can share how much you bought the missha bb cream ? Not sure if it’s worth the trouble to get my friend to get them when she goes to korea next month. I saw someone org korean skin care spree in s’pore and selling at $26 for 50ml. Am thinking of getting some laneige products there as well. -
another great write -up insider :goodpost: KTO should really employ you to promote Korea in SG.
Re dragonhill spa : can we use our swimsuit ? thought must be naked? BTW, did you happen to see any korean families bringing babies? doubt we can go la.. what to do with the baby girl .. she would be so restless.. not at all relaxing..
the guide sounds decent.. with our group of young and old.. most likely will leave late and end early cos the baby will get grouchy and cannot rush my in-laws.. so that's why we chose F&E, do everything in a leisurely pace.. my inlaws are pretty easy -going and if he is the honest type, i'm sure they will like him, so sure will tip him generously..
ya, read abt his FT ville but we have almost settled most of our accommodation already and have decided against staying near DDM cos as you've said la.. going with family very hard to do serious shopping.. this trip, i have decided it's to make the kids and my inlaws happy.. so it's amusement parks and nice hotels for them.
Lastly, do you know if the lotte mart at Lotte world is similar in price and variety to the one at seoul station? will be staying at Lotte world hotel so thinking of doing my main shopping there instead
Thanks again insider -
insider:
Dragon Hill Spa is located at SinYongSan station (about 4 stations away from Myeong Dong. Fare Won1,000.). ... ... ... bit of $$$...
Thanks insider for sharing all about korea.
Wanna organize a korea tour group for kiasumommies?
really thanks for all the info.
thou i'm not planning for korea now, but i really wanted to go korea again, with all your notes/info on hand. -
insider:
aaaaah.. insider, you have just hit me directly at my weak spot.. children's books.. now, i definitely have to go check out the bookshops..wow, moom reminded me of one of the best things that I bought from Korea. The artist book for my youngest son and is one of my best children book collections:
no lah,we're not staying the whole trip at lotte, just the last few days.. not too bad.. abt 160K W for double and 230K W for family room but excluding tax and BF.
seriously insider, you make everything sound so interesting, now i have to re-think abt the dragonhill spa :stupid:  -
We’re extending our tour. Would like to visit these places :-
1) Watching the JUMP show. Is it funny or too lame to bother? We missed their performance when they were last here.
2) Going to the ice-bar. From the station at Hongik Univ, is it a long walk to get there. We’ve got the map bus no scale, so not sure how far to walk.
3) We’ll definitely try out the dragon spa that insider raved about.
4) Looking forward to the ice rink at seoul plaza/gwanghwamum sq. cant believe rental of skates for 1 hr is 1000 krw.
5) Anywhere else other than shopping?
