haha... What can she do? My son's P1 registration was done 3 yrs ago using legitimate address and currently still staying there.

I understand the stress she is going thru. Well, again, good luck and all the best to her.

                Scary:
Just to clarify for those who are getting lost among the trees. Very simple. I have no issue with genuine residents in the area competing for a place in whichever school they try to get their kids into. I have no god given right - but I do have more of a right (legally) than some. In summary:

                1. Own and live in a property less than 1km for many years - no issue
                2. Recently bought or rented a property less than 1km AND actually live there - no issue

                3. Bought or rented a place for P1 registration BUT still living elsewhere within Singapore - illegal and considered cheating
                4. Using a parents/relatives/friends address for P1 registration without filling out a statutory declaration as you will only be considered as a 1-2km applicant - illegal and considered cheating.

I shall pursue those in categories 3 & 4 as cheats. It will take a few weeks and will almost definitely occur after balloting - but they will get caught eventually. No doubt. Question rightly or wrongly that how is is this possible. But don't be so naive to think it's okay to cheat and get away with it.

Why do people have a problem in outing those who clearly cheat. This is part of the problem as to why foreigners prosper over us singaporeans - they act decisively when needed. When we do it - people pray for our downfall. Wake up!

My words may be strong but my actions are far stronger!

Your pt 3. Assuming someone has a few properties. All are pretty close to one another. However, only 1 is near to a good school and the family doesn't stay there. Instead, that place is a storage hub for the family. Is this consider a cheat? If you are in the same shoe owning a few properties, I believe you will also use the address that is nearest to a good school.

Your pt 3, there is nothing the government can do. They can purchase the property, stayed there till the registration is over, then move out or vacant it or rent out. At the point of registration, it is consider legal and there is nothing you can do. You have no case against them.

Your pt 4, again there is nothing the government can do. Nowaday, the property is so high, how you expect the young family to own a property. They have no choice but to stay with their parents/friends/relative. You have no legal stand against them.

All your points are not classified cheating. If you do not has the permission to use the address, it is consider cheating.

You are just wasting $$ engaging lawyer to fight an impossible battle.

I would suggest, find way to join the school committee. Get in by phase 2A. Don't just complain here.
🕺
updates as at 11am :

                  SCGS : 29 seats, 46 SC within 1KM
                  RGPS : 42 seats, 48 SC , 37 within 1KM, 2 1-2KM, 9 outside 2KM
SMPS : 101 seats, 87 SCs, no breakdown of distance available

SMPS: 87 SCs, of which 43 outside 2km.

Let's look at the bigger picture. We just want our girls to get into school. At this rate, the will be more disappointed families if people don't withdraw from scgs and switch to smps. If things stay status quo, there will be 17 disappointments (46-29). If parents realize this, some should actually switch to smps so the number of disappointments are minimized. 14 seats left at smps, if 15 switch to smps, it would force a ballot at smps for those outside of 2km, chances would be 101-(87-43)=57 spaces for of 58 (43+15) applicants. for scgs, it would be 29 of 31. Disappontments -maximum 3, and possibly only two as all who switch could get seats.

But as it stands, 17 will definitely be disappointed at scgs.
                  Look at the big picture.

Magicball have you already withdraw from scgs? Or are you like me didn't even bother taking the huge risk after seeing the freakish numbers? I registered directly at smps despite being less than 1km. From scgs and more than 2km from smp
87 SC registered out of 101 seats and 13 more seats available. i withdrew from my 1st choice (not SCGS) and registered at SMPS.

but who will be ready to withdraw, may be everyone are very serious in getting their DD into their dream school, when there is no compromise, have to face the result and hope phase 2C supp should be the backup

                        P1 mummy:

I read (subsequent to my previous post) with slight surprise the shock that such sensitive information as our NRIC is available to people to begin investigations. Why such surprise... we flash our NRIC at least 2-3 times a month for many mundane things. The difference is, these people do not care about such information, however there is a small group of people who are finally fed up with whole process of cheating to get their children into schools at the expense of genuine residents. The number people who have the potential to give out such information within the school (only a few) and within MoE (several) means that this information will come out.

As I stated earlier in my previous post - I shall indeed move heaven and earth should my daughter lose out on entry to SCGS. Interestingly, even if she does get in, there are a few people who will take the lead into such investigations and it's not just the straits times reporter who contacted me via email. I have it from a good source that the home team and MoE PS shall be looking into this whole fraudulent address use.

I promise that I will spare no expense or energy in outing those who deprive my girl her entry into her local school due to those illegally using a fraudulent address. This is not a threat it is a promise!

While many of us understand the stress all parents facing primary one registration have, don't not go round issuing threats.

Moreover, this threat is issued just for the sake of your child in a particular school. It is pure self interest.

I do care about my personal info being leaked to unknown parties. I have been doing n telling people (including this forum) to strike a line across all photocopied copies of their ic n other personal info given to banks etc.

And I hope you did tell the reporter that you have a good friend working in moe who is very friendly with the vp in scgs and the names n nric nos of these kids are easily obtainable by you. Abuse of power?

If I am harassed by this, the vp n the one in moe will be the first to face my wrath especially if no good reason is given for the leak of personal info.

As for all the 4 points you raised, well the parents have already gave the answers.
