I think that the policy intention is not to give any \"entitlement\" to those who *own* property near to schools. The policy intention instead is to minimise time taken up for travel by school children...

I'm sorry to hear your dd got balloted out.

You sound familiar... would have corresponded with your wife 2 years back if I knew you were keen on 2B.

Good luck for your P2CS application.

Did you wait-list RL at SCGS?

....Finally, the only areas for adjustment that I think really merit attention are:

          (a) no distance limit for alumni -- this does not make sense if the overriding objective is to minimise travel time for kids, with a secondary objective of keeping school spirit alive etc. There should be an upper limit, whether 5km or whatever, on alumni. Otherwise, alumni staying really far away can get in, without any quota, when this makes a mockery of the primary objective of minimising travel time for kids.
Couldn't have said it any better.

This issue is already currently being discussed in this thread:

          A little off topic. :bewaremod:

Congrats to all parents who are balloted into SCGS. As for those who are balloted out, all the best in the next phase. As parents, you have tried your best for your kids.

When our ds could not get into our choice of school despite having to PV in two super hot schools last year, my dh told me then (amidst our great disappointments) that if the school does not provide the exposure and opportunities to our ds, we, as parents, will try our very best to give him the necessary exposure and opportunities, even that means more money departed and more efforts from us.
