Nonetheless, no harm giving it a try... but do remember to have a 2nd school option in case can't get into Nan Chiau.

This week we have entered phase 2B and i have not yet decided whc school to register my boy ! I have secured a place at Red Swastika but probably would withdraw and register with a school in Seng Kang for the simple reason that i m staying in Sengkang. The 2 nearest school to my house, Nan Chiau and Compassvale, requires balloting at phase 2C. If i fail, i will go for Anchor Green(1km) or North Vista(2km) under phase 2C supp. If cant get in at phase 2C supp then dont know wat to do already.
Wonder whether any child staying in Sengkang did not manage to secure a place in Senkang Sch the last few years ?
Was very worried that if i do not get a place at phase 2C but after visiting North Vista and Anchor Green, i feel more at ease. The session with North Vista was indeed impressive but seems like our kids will b guinea pigs if we send them there now. There was too many questions and did not have enough reassurance from the principal about how they teach. He said we dont teach grammr as 'Mary has a dog', they do write-ups so they learn from there. Quite worried how our child would be adequately equipped with the foundation if there is no systematic syllabus. Means we have to keep watch very tightly and make up ourselves if anything were to fall thru the cracks ? i do like the breakfast with parent at sch and start sch at 8am part. For Anchor Green, spoke to the principal and feel quite good and this is more mainstream sch and believe she is the walk the talk type. Advantages of these new schs are that they have excess capacity so more attn can be given to your child, more flexible and more daring to revamp (bcos they have no records to upkeep ?).
So any teachers or parents who have child studying in these 2 schools, esp North Vista, would really appreciate your comments how your child is doing at these new schs. I believe the child must be happy but we would like to know whether u hv to do the practise and drill at home instead as doubtful whether the child can make it at PSLE. Pls help. we have no more time, got to register next week... :!:
Tks much  -

Is he talking about the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1986&start=0 programme? If so, nearly all schools are adapting this programme. I almost got a shock 3 days prior to my P1's SA1 when i realised that he did not understand 'he eats; they eat' type of questions. Without systematic syllabus (textbook etc), it's pretty difficult for parents to follow and catchup. But we'll just has to make do and try to pick out the kid's weakness through usage of assessment books.

Hi Happy Father,
My child is due for Primary 1 registration this year. I had visited CHIJ (Hougang) and North Vista Primary School. After the Meet the Parents session held last week, I must say that I was quite impressed with the adoption of Technology for North Vista Pri school. The only bad point was there was no reference to how the school performed in PSLE as this was a new school and the highest group of kids were only in Pri 4. I still believe in what the school has to offer and it realy bold down to the Teachers which I believe they have pretty good ones there. -

I think should be Reggio-Emilia approach.JSC:

\"Modeled after the Reggio-Emilia approach to education, North Vista Primary School is involving the communities to help build the school of the future. It is the first and only Reggio-inspired primary school in Singapore. \"
For me, I am really tempted as its single session and also got a BASC within the school compound..BUT...will also doubt whether this italian aproach will prepare the kids for PSLE? -

So it (North Vista) has even been exhbited. Wonder it is an experiment by MOE in their plan to revamp the education landscape. So sending our kids as guinea pigs ?
Would really like to hear feedback/comments from parents whose kids have studied there pls. We are left with only a few days to decide. Our child's future
Tks -
We are just a staying opposite Compassvale Primary sch so quite natually this was our 1st choice. Nan Chiau and Rivervale are both within 1KM. We had missed two of the North Vista Pri Sch open house
however North Vista is still one of our choice. But we are 1.1Km away
We will be registering under Phrase 2C for our DS next week. I am still unsure to register on the 1st day or to wait and see till last day :?: To wait and see if there are any places left for the 3 nearer school?? or just go ahead and register at North Vista on day one??
