I would hazard to say that for compo, regular practice (very boring!) is needed because during exam time, you have only a limited amount of time and must get organised, the plot, intro, body, conclusion etc, logical sequence of thoughts etc etc and get it composed and written well to score the marks

All these need practice such that the kid can get used to the rhythm. It is boring but essential. As you practise, the style improves, the sentence structure improves, apply good vocab, learn new words and new terms, improve the plot, etc and gradually raise the standard … Pri 5 try to achieve Pri 6 standard, pri 6 will aim for sec 1/2 standard…guaranteed A* for EL at PSLE

A good EL coach would be able to do that. The aim is to exceed beyond PSLE standard, and the coach should not mind marking all the compo - that is what she/he is paid to do

reading through good model compo can help just a little. putting pen to paper would help a lot more, after the reading.

Technically not quite yet for my dd's school. She hasn't started the written papers yet. 5 to go todate. They are really dragging the academic year.

                    Hi,

My dd also doing psle in 2013. Thanks for starting the thread.

As my girl is not good at oral, i’m now looking for a tuition centre that covers English oral, compo, compre and grammer all in one. Any recommendations?
                    Thanks.

Heard Morris Ellen is good - the language expert. specialises in English. But very expensive. Personally have not tried - but the Chinese expert (Tien Hsia) was right next to it (same company - they called themselves the Language experts). My dd attends the Chinese one and always find that there are overwhelming students attending Morris Ellen classes.

Another one is Mindchamps - quite good in English tuiton too - rate wise think it's cheaper.

There is another very good one at isun (goldhill). The trainer has very good testimonies. But very expensive.

                      Hope it helps.

Thanks. Any comment between Morris Allen and LCentral? Or any recommendation for just Oral class? My girl intends to stay on her current tuition centre. But the centre does not focus on oral skills. I'm worry cause the language total score is 200%.
